Archon was a battle chess game on the NES. Could this be the basis of Archon: Classic?

Yeah. I loved that fantasy strategy cult game from 1983 on the C64! Good vs Evil. Each side with their own units: elves, unicorns, valkyries vs wizards, gnomes, ogres etc.

When two players drop on the same field, a cool 1-vs-1 realtime action scene took place. It was one of the best 2player games back in the day.
Online multiplayer would be fantastic.

Now, seeing they name it Archon: Classic, I really hope it's close to the originals spot-on controls and perfect gameplay.

Always wanted another Archon since
Archon II: Exodus and Archon III: Exciter.

Going back to the roots with this one, I think I will get this.

I've played Archon on the C64 and love it. However, that was a long time ago and I'm not sure if I'll like it now.
