Eternity's Child (WiiWare)

Game Profile

Eternity's Child (previously known as Angel's Eternity) is a side-scrolling platform game based on the fairy tale created by Luc Bernard, which was initially developed for Xbox Live Arcade, one of the first games to be made with the XNA toolset.

On September 9, 2007, it was revealed that it was changed to retail Nintendo DS and WiiWare titles, to be published by British retro games publisher Alten8.

Looks to be a great game; can't wait... or maybe I can, thanks to Brawl. >.>

Still, seriously, the game looks, sounds, and seems to play great.

The gameplay looks good, pretty solid for a platformer. The music is great. I can't wait. :)

Everything looks great. For 500 points it should be a must-buy.

Reminds me of the first, 2D-based Rayman, but with a big axe 8P ! Should be fun, but I hope the final game won't be as hard as it looks in teh Vid (slashing at an enemy and hoping to have enogh LP to sit it out? Yuck!).

It looks like a Snes 2D platformer with updated graphics.

Hey guys... when are we gonna get more than just thumbnails for screenshots? I'd love to see this game. The art direction from squinting at these looks pretty cool.

"It looks like a Snes 2D platformer with updated graphics."
Which is definitely not a bad thing. Remember Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Kirby Super Star, ActRaiser? Not saying that you meant it as a bad thing in the first place though, Serpent. ;)

At 500 points is WiiWare going to force a pricing rethink for Nintendo over its NES games? Once Wii ware becomes established I can't see too many people buying the likes of Urban Champion over this?

azariaspice

15. azariaspice United States 08 Apr 2008, 06:33 GMT

For 500 points? Wow. NES games seem pricey now. O.o;; Maybe they should lower the prices for the games.

I'm getting this game to support the release of Imagination is the Only Escape, but it looks fun as well!

Jupiter Adept

21. Jupiter Adept Canada 17 Apr 2008, 01:52 GMT

It didn't go to 360 since Microsoft said it wasn't what they wanted on XBLA, or something like that.

Well that's because Microsoft is bunk. This is an instant download for me.

Really excited about this (along with lost winds) would like to see a release date and points/price. some wiiware games seem to creeping up in price. (1500 should be the max I think)

Avatar

26. Boringman54 Canada 20 May 2008, 20:55 GMT

I'm planning on buying this. It looks like an awesome platformer.

Also, it's cool how we stole this from XBLA. There was too many restrictions so they moved it over to WiiWare.

Avatar

27. KnucklesSonic8 Canada 20 May 2008, 21:18 GMT

The game will be 500 Points.

And yeah, the platforming element itself seems almost top-notch.

luc bernard posted this to his blog yesterday:
"For the Wiiware version of Eternity's Child, well that's up to my publisher to decide when they want to release it."

Me want soon!

Oh man that video was sweet. i can't wait for this game. The music is worth 500 it'self. and then the crazy platforming elements. It's too much too handle.

Avatar

30. strade32 United States 05 Jun 2008, 01:21 GMT

this game just doesn't interest me for some reason. i like the graphics a lot, but the music does not suit the level. also, i have played games that handle like this on the internet, but i hated all of them. this could be good for others though.

Avatar

31. ICEknight Spain 10 Jun 2008, 22:45 GMT

To anybody commenting on that video, Luc Bernard already said that it's completely outdated and doesn't represent the final Wiiware product.

It was made when it was still an X-Box Live project, if I remember correctly.

Avatar

32. zoipi Spain 17 Jun 2008, 21:48 GMT

@ICEknight I hope so. If they correct it, it will be sure an awesome game.

PD: Are you also from Spain?! I Thought i was the only one here!

For some reason,
this game reminds me of
Tim Burton's Nigtmare Before Christmas.
This game definitely has the look, sound, and feel of that film.
The XBox live version was awesome, hope they adjusted some of angles and bugs.
This looks very promising for a fairly budgeted WiiWare game.
Rockn.

Woah! Marvman is on WiiWare world? Sorry, I just got a shock from that since I know him from another forum.

Anyway, I love platformers, so I can't wait for this, it looks very unique :p

Avatar

37. Mickeymac United States 04 Jul 2008, 16:19 GMT

I don't remember the Xbox Live version ever being released, so that does bring up some questions. Personally I'm not doubting whether or not Marvman has played it or not, I'd just like to know how.

Avatar

Looks interesting. And only 500 Points? Nice. I only hope this is not as difficult as many old-school games are. I must admit, that most of the VC-Games are waaay to hard for me. In any case I look forward to the review.

Just tried the PC demo. It was ok, a little bit simple maybe?
My mind drifted of to good old SuperFrog right away, but I would easily say:
SuperFrog > Eternity's Child
Hope the WW version is good. And I like the pricetag.

Avatar

48. lockelocke United States 21 Aug 2008, 02:15 GMT

Just curious, what does Luc exactly do as "videogame developer"
I'm going to assume he doesn't code at all, which leaves what? Developing the idea and the artwork? Not to undermine the importance of those things; I developed a couple basic games in college, and when you can't do art for jack-ish, an artist suddenly seems like god's gift to man. It's really hard to make a well coded game seem good when the art is crap.
