With swaying aquatic plants and fish idly swimming about, My Aquarium is a relaxing Wii experience that allows you to enjoy a virtual aquarium in your spare time. Whether freshwater or saltwater, you can select from over 40 popular types of fish, including favorites like the Ocellaris clownfish, the freshwater angelfish and the Asian arowana. You can also create up to six different aquariums and personalize them by adding decorations like seaweed and driftwood. In My Aquarium, you can send aquariums to your registered Wii Friends. The aquariums can even be set with special dates, such as a friend's birthday, that the fish will commemorate with a dance. Feed your fish and watch them steadily grow from fry to adult. Then, after meeting certain conditions, you can breed them. Another feature will allow you to interact with your fish using your Wii Remote controller in fun ways, like "tapping" the glass of your aquarium.

It would be great if you could import smaller fish from Endless Ocean to this game. Not the blue whale of course:)

I look at these screens and, for some reason, I have Hayley Westenra's music in my head.
So long as I have Endless, I don't know if I'm getting this one.

Yo Tony, that would be a very cool feature
. Take a sim dive to catch some sim fish to put in your sim aquarium.
I love that idea, really. Maybe there will be some boating game as well, to take you on your sim boat to your sim diving site.
Why didn't the devs think of that? Shame...
That aquarium thing here would probably be a very cool feature as background illumination for some cool parties in your living room. 500pts sounds tempting to me...
Oh, another thought here: isn't there a "Find Nemo"-Game out there somewhere where this would fit in neatly?

Thomas: Indeed. Endless is probably more interesting/contains more depth.
This released in Japan today from what I know so we may be getting this soon whether you all like it or not!! XD
But for 500, oyou can't go wrong, can you? Time will tell. I'm not getting this but maybe my friend will consider this since he has an aquarium of his own and he loves tending to it.

Obviously I haven't played the game, but to compare this to Endless Ocean would be like comparing Shadow the Hedgehog to Metroid Prime just because both involve guns. And to continue the analogy, I'm also certain that Blue Oasis will have the quality of Shadow the Hedgehog next to Endless Ocean's "Metroid Prime-like" quality.
Yeah, the comparison sucks, but hey, stupidity doesn't stop an Endless Ocean fan.

This might be nice to just have running in the background as an alternative to buying a real fish tank. Not sure how real it will look, but from the screen shots it looks to be pretty good.

Sounds like some of those old Windows 95 screen-savers, don't it? Well, I for one have game cartridges and VCR tapes lying around from 1985, so why not reinvent something that has already been done over a decade (or two) ago?

Didn't this used to be Blue Oasis? I'm not too interested, I've had fish before, and that was enough for me. I don't need to have one in a video game, where really all you do is stare at it...

You know, when I heard about WiiWare, I was hoping it would have more items of the "game" persuasion, implying fun and enjoyment. Fish-tanks will always be boring, virtual or not!

"since I didn't feel paying $50 for endless ocean, this seems like a good buy at 5 bucks"
Isn't Endless Ocean a budget title? I got it in a 2 for £30 offer with another budget title, Wii Chess, both Brand new.

12 Aug 2008, 10:57 BST
@Terranigma Yeah, Endless Ocean is a Budget game if we were to compare it to a wiiware game it would cost the same FFCC:mlaak without any DLC (1500 points) so surely that is what $15... a lot less than the $50 that Breeder mentioned earlier.
Infact im sure GAME sell it for £10 which is the equivilant of 1300 points and that is for a retail game with a pretty decent 2 player online mode compared to what this Virtual fishtank would cost - anywhere between 500 and 1000 points.

I wanted Endless Ocean but was put off by the (apparantly long) loading times.
And where can you find it cheap anyway? Best I've seen is £17.99 and my local game sells it for £20
For now though, this will keep me more than happy for £3.50.

The loading times for enless ocean are really laid back and relaxing. And yes you can find Endless Ocean around $20-30. Its a good exploration style game.

I say...buy Endless Ocean.
If you've got money to burn on a fish sim to relax...buy Endless Ocean.
It's bigger. It's better. And you got custom soundtracks for more relaxation. Buy Endless Ocean.
And also, if you're even reading this review...buy Endless Ocean.

21% the official nintendo magazine of england gave this. they must have treated it like a proper game than a relaxation package.
35. Vortex99
11 Oct 2008, 10:43 BST
@ Bass X0 - I read that too. 21%? OUCH!
I don't think I'll be downloading this. After all, it's not really a game, is it?
36. Terranigma
12 Oct 2008, 09:43 BST
21% is really bad but i have to say that i don't think they were looking at the game the right way, like Bass X0 said, i think they must have treated it like a proper game.
I don't agree though as i bought this for my Sister and she is really enjoying creating her own aquarium. I found it enjoyable when i made my own aquarium too. It is quite relaxing to do. I got stressed earlier and then went onto this and i found myself calmer soon afterwards.

This isn't a game, and if people reviewed it as that, then I'd see why they would score it low. But personally, I love it. I put this on to just run in the background when I have other things to do; it's really relaxing and gives nice background noise. Because of what you can do it's a little more involved than a simple screensaver, which is nice, but it's definitely not a real game either.
There's nothing else on the Wii that really offers anything like this, and for me, it's definitely worth its $5.

the controls for this are annoying me to no end... it shouldn't be that hard to place a piece of driftwood where i want it. i keep getting objects jumping around the screen when i just want to move them over a bit or move them into the foreground. i was hoping to be relaxed, but i ended up frustrated.
i'm hoping when i go back tomorrow i will have shiny new fish and maybe the controls will work better for me.
edit: it isn't terrible, but i'm glad i got my wii points cards for 40% off.
there just isn't much to do, which i guess shouldn't be a surprise to me.
sometimes the fish swim through objects they shouldn't be able to swim through.
but eh, what do you want for a few dollars?
and i actually like the selection of music.
i have endless ocean and played the hell out of it for the first couple of weeks i had it. then it was just too much work to try to unlock everything... and i just didn't care for the music.
oh, and i don't know where people got the idea that endless ocean is $50. list is $30 and i'm pretty sure it has been since it came out. you can get it on amazon for $20.

@megatron
I feel you on the controls, it's my only issue with the game. It takes way too long to set up a tank for that reason. Actually, let me retract that, and submit my other major beef: Why can't I unlock fish based on my actions and efforts in the game? The game is rewarding me for checking on my fish and feeding them daily as much as it is rewarding someone who neglects his fish and checks on them like once every couple weeks. That doesn't seem right, kind of takes the incentive out of the game; I can just turn it on once and a while and, viola, I'll have new fish. But on the real, that doesn't stop me from checking on My Aquarium at least every few days.
*Spoilers??*
Oh, PS: Has anyone unlocked the Seahorse?

0/5 Broken Wii-motes on the frustration meter

Of course it's not frustrating, but that's the point isn't it? Not a horrible way to pass the time after you're done checking the weather. The fish animation was ok for swimming, but eating and playing consists of just swimming back and forth near food. Not overly entertaining.
Cost: 500 Worth: 250

It's sort of silly, allowing one to mix freshwater and marine fish and decor in the same tank. Also, there are no clear goals to accomplish. The decor must be clustered near the center.
