With the US WiiWare launch fading into memory, it’s the turn of European gamers to start getting excited about upcoming downloadable content. WiiWare hits the ‘old world’ on 20th May, and surprisingly European Wii owners will be getting eight games instead of the six that arrived on North American shores.
LostWinds and Final Fantasy CC: My Life As A King are undoubtedly two of the big draws, but Europe is also getting the highly anticipated Dr Mario & The Germ Buster (also known as Dr Mario Online RX) and Star Soldier R.
Other titles of interest are Toki Tori and Pirates: The Key of Dreams, both of which have not been announced for US release as yet. The final two games Europe will get are already out in the US: TV Show King and Pop.
However, Defend Your Castle and VIP Casino: Blackjack are both absent from the list.
Pricing hasn’t been confirmed as yet but it would be wise to expect similar values to those seen at the Japanese and US launches of the service.
The complete Euro lineup is shown below in the 'Related Games' section.
UPDATE: It seems there's been a bit of confusion about this WiiWare launch list. Nintendo has now stated that eight games WILL NOT be available from the 20th May, and that some vague wording in the original press release is to blame. What they were actually trying to say is that FROM the 20th of May onwards, these games will be released.
Confused?
The company has yet to confirm which games will be available, but it's obviously going to be some from this list of eight. Keep your eyes on the site and when we know, you'll know.

Ooh, I'll keep my 600 points. I might be getting another 2000 points card by then...
But, uh... Toki Tori is the only one I'm keeping an eye on at the moment, anyway. Hopefully someone can send me the Dr. Mario demo (if our version has it, that is).

Well hopefully this means the games are ready for the U.S on May 19th if not it does make sense that Europe gets toki tori first because two tribes is a European company.

You got a very awesome launch. If I were in Europe, I still would only get LostWinds... but maybe Toki Tori.

Hopefully the US will get Dr. Mario and Star Soldier. Those are the 2 game I am looking forward too. I had to clean my Wii system memory and move eight game to a SD card to get ready for Wii ware.

I'm quite happy with this lineup, while we are not getting the same content as the US at launch Nintendo have not completely ass raped us. I'm still ticked about how Australian Wii Points are worse less than the US points (especially since our dollar value is really strong these days) but I will be downloading a few of those games to review for other places. I guess I might have fun with them to, since they are games after all.
EDIT: And looks like that magic ass raping dildo has appeared with Nintendo correcting the list stating that not all of these games will be released on the 20th. We'd better get FF:CC, Dr Mario and Pop at least (since I wanted those games first)

How jealous North America shall be. Well when the news was first announced with Dr. Mario before the confusion began I could just imagine how angry people were. I don't care about Dr. Mario though. I hope Europe though does get a good launch.

1: Don't want to sound rude but when are the WiiWare Game reviews appearing?
2: Does anyone know how the WiiWare and VC Games will be released between them?
3: Will this affect the Hanabi Festival?
21. Dazza
13 May 2008, 17:40 BST
1. You are not being rude! You will see some WiiWare reviews on the site later today.
2. I would imagine that once the WiiWare smoke clears you'll see 1 or 2 WiiWare games a week along with 1 or 2 VC games as usual.
3. You'll have to wait until Friday to find out
22. Starwolf_UK
13 May 2008, 17:40 BST
As per usual knowing what will come out a week in advance is too good for NOE
The worst thing is the next chance for anything to come out is 10 days later (I'd imagine Friday to still be Wii Shop day). I suppose I should look at it as Wiiware launches 3 days early
I noticed something rather weird. There is a Wii retail game called pop coming out on Friday. Its not the WiiWare Pop but a game that came out in America as Balloon Pop (Thanks 505 games and your obsession with renaming anything you publish!). I just hope this doesn't cause any confusion (though a look at the two would tell you they are different) or any problems for WiiWare Pop.

Yep, that's how it's going to work once we hit a certain point which I imagine will be on the 26th of May or June 2nd.

13 May 2008, 19:05 BST
Two games? Wow... (I can't see the pics.)
And yeah, even though I'm not from the UK, I'd hope so too. The NA Launch could've been better but for two titles, that'll completely suck for an opening... even if Dr. Mario is included in those two.

13 May 2008, 19:15 BST
It's always possible that they'll add more three days later (Friday) with the VC update (That is if we get any VC games). Remember, in December we got Pokemon Snap on a Tuesday and then Mega Man 2 and Top Hunter on Friday.
28. KnucklesSonic8
13 May 2008, 19:16 BST
Ah, true. I didn't think of that. Then again, I'm not too familiar with the UK Updates (like the one you just alluded to, I had no idea had occured). I'm aware of what titles come out but that's about it, heh.

31. KnucklesSonic8
13 May 2008, 21:29 BST
Yeah, I'm not "complaining" personally, especially considering we're getting World of Goo, Gyrostarr and Dr. Mario next week. The first two I care about much more and I'm buying Gyrostarr, but as for World of Goo, I can already tell it's going to be a hit.. that is, if they changed their mind about pricing it at 2000 Points. Anyone else think 1000 or 1500 would be better? Would anyone buy it if it was priced at either of those price tags when they previously weren't going to if it were at 2000? Just curious.

13 May 2008, 21:32 BST
I would like to remind some people that none of the IGN (US) dates are confirmed. They've got about 7 games listed for next Monday but I strongly doubt all of those will be released. We can see Star Soldier R and Dr. Mario coming (That's why we dated them), but not much else.
34. KnucklesSonic8
13 May 2008, 21:36 BST
Yeah, exactly. That's the problem with IGN. I've been talking as though EVERYTHING were confirmed, officially, but I have no way of knowing for sure. In fact, I've been doubting World of Goo would appear next week but again, I could be wrong. Either way, we'll find out soon enough but as you said, SSR and DMRX seem the most likely to be ... accurate (was gonna say "legit" for some reason, heh).

Nintendo Channel lied about the release date for Dr Mario, saying it would release on May 12th. That's right, a lie - strait from the horses mouth - a big, fat, juicy white lie. Also, knowing that Nintendo almost never screws over the USA/Canada, but has been habitually screwing over the PAL regions for decades (recent examples: SMBLL limited release, no Smash Bros), gives me the impression that Nintendo will most likely do it again for the PAL launch. If I don't get Dr Mario Rx by Monday, then I am gonna take a bus all the way to Redmond, Washington to open up a can of Whup-@$$
