Hudson announced Tetris Party some time ago and although we’d heard rumours of Balance Board compatibility, it hasn’t actually been confirmed until now.
The game is set for release in Autumn (or 'Fall' if you're of the North American persuasion) and will also include online play, 'point and shoot' wiimote control and 18 different games modes, 10 of which will be all-new variations on the core Tetris concept. Check out the Official Tetris Party Site for more details.
It’s all looking very promising – feast your eyes on the brand new screenshots below!

This should be interesting.
It's hard to believe they're still milking Tetris some 23 years later, especially considering many thought it would never make it as a video game to begin with.

YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE Tetris almost as much as I love Final Fantasy! And that's saying something.
Mii support, tons of game mode, balance board compatability, the fact that it's Tetris. This has to get a 9-10/10.
Unless something goes horribly wrong it may just surpass Tetris DS as the best Tetris version ever.
Co-op will be awsome!

I already have Tetris DS.....so why bother getting this?
5. Bahamut ZERO

@breaderer
Because it has much much more game modes. Just because you play one version of Tetris dosn't mean you're done (who would want to be done with Tetris anyway). It's like the differences between Dr.Mario and Dr.Mario Online RX except with 16 more game modes.

The amazing amount of game modes has caught my attention again. The Wii Balance Board integration has not. I have held out on buying Wii Fit and I don't think I'll get it just for this game. I hope they have alternative control methods.

I'm not too sure about this Tetris. If it strays too far from the concept of the original game It might end up being a flop. Remember Tetris worlds for Gamecube? I bought that one thinking it would be cool. It was way too different and nothing like the Gameboy version. I'll be watching this one but my hopes aren't too high.

Tetris is a decent game (yes, i said decent) but as for balance board: why? How?

I'm worried by two things;
1. 18 game modes. Tetris DS had about 8, at least half of which sucked.
2. It's from Hudson, who develop Mario Party, which has the same subtitle as this. It better be better than Mario Party lol.
I think I read it's gonna be 1000 points though, so even if all the modes bar standard and online suck, it'll still be worth it.

I will still wait to see some reviews, but as long as it scores a 6 and has the standard tetris mode intact (which I have no doubt it would) ... well I am a sucker for puzzle games

O.K, I think that this article should have said BBoard is not how you play the game. It's a game MODE. You play the game with who knows what, but the board is one of the 18 modes. And it will have Classic mode, online battle, co-op, bboard, tons of modes! You can see some on the official site.
1000 Wii Points is a steal for Tetris, and a rip off for Dr.Mairo (you could just buy th NES version for like, 5 bucks
. It only icluded 1 extra mode while this includes an extra 17.

The day this comes out will be a happy day.
Why all the wary talks, though? Everyone was worried about Dr. Mario, and look how perfect it turned out. Multi games mode can be skipped, just so everyone knows
Games can be messed about, but not Tetris. (Okay, except for that other nasty NES version.)

I loved Dr. Mario on NES but for some reason I don't like the WiiWare version much.
Why does it only record your high score as the maximum score reached on any single level? Did the original do that?

As long as it has the classic mode and all the popular music tracks I might want to check it out. I don't think Tetris worlds even had the original music. That was really dissapointing.

T-t-t-t-ten? Whoa, I've only played a flash game before, and it only had one mode, but ten? No wait, those are the new ones, so thats plus 7 "old" modes I've never played, plus the original Tetris. Plus online multiplayer, plus Balance board support?! Is there any reason not to be impressed? I'm glad I didn't get Dr. Mario, it'd be just collecting dust on in my SD card, while I happily spend hours and hours playing what it destined to be one the greatest games on Wiiware.
Perhaps my enthusiasm caused me to exaggerate the worth of a game I have yet to play, but from where I'm standing, things are pretty optimistic.
Edit: AND Mii support! This game just keeps getting better and better, I tell ya.

Won't they get problems with Nintendo if they exclude gamers who don't have a Balance Board, like it was with the Bongos in Plättchen? Or was this just because Bongos aren't produced anymore
24. Mr.Game and Watch

They'll just to let everyone play cancel Wii Move Balance Board.
Sentence no.1+2 are both reasons why the bongos aren't use anymore.

@BuzzDee
Seeing that Hudson is making this game, I'm pretty sure they'll nail the Balance Board integration if they decide to include it. My only complaint is I don't want to shell out another eighty bucks to buy Wii Fit to enjoy all of Tetris Party. I've tried the Board and it's fun, but I just don't have that much extra money on me yet. That's why I'm hoping for alternative control schemes!
Besides, if the Board proves I can look like a weirdo even while playing Tetris, what will sustain my illusion that I'm slightly cool?

I'm pretty sure after that disaster the Tetris Company started being more strict about how Tetris should play (I think before then it was a basic controls it should control like this thing). Though for some reason infinate spin got added into the official rules and so has to be included from now (hence why old versions of Tetris can't hit the Wii Shop).
As for Balance Marathon. Oh well thats one mode I won't be playing. As for this it should be worth it for cheat free online glares at Tetris DS.

The must buy of the fall. But I wanted a specific date for the game. Although I'll take an official web site. More upcoming WiiWare games need websites!

I like the way you think. Online with Wiispeak = awesome.
And honestly, I'm pretty interested in this games extra modes. I was kinda skeptical when Tetris DS had their extra modes, but they were pretty cool. Looking at that third and fourth screenshot seems like it'll be loads of fun with a friend watching/playing too. "K, now put that piece over there and we can clear - WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?"

I can't wait for this, I don't have Tetris DS but this will help me with my addiction for tetris. I can't wait to play tetris online. WHO WANTS TO FACE ME???!!!!! I face you in Dr.Mario. I don't understand why they need the balance board for this.

31 Jul 2008, 21:09 BST
Okay, to reiterate what Bahamut ZERO said, you don't have to play the game with the Balance Board. It's only being used for a few game modes, and considering there are 18, you probably aren't missing much if you don't have the BB. It also says right in the article that it has "point & shoot controls", so there is an alternate control scheme. I hope we're all clear on this now.
36. Bahamut ZERO
31 Jul 2008, 21:28 BST
Tanks MickeyMac for actually understanding

And nice name you combine to of the greatest things ever (Mickey and Big Macs)
Let's hope that all the extra modes don't suck like they did in Tetris DS (the only good mode was Push. Touch was O.K)
37. Ricardo91
31 Jul 2008, 21:46 BST
@Bahamut. What are you talking about? Catch mode was awesome! Mission, touch, and push mode were alright too, though puzzle got pretty boring after a while.
And whoa, 18 modes!? And balance board, online and Mii Support!?!? This is gonna kick Tetris DS's ass! And even if I never get a Balance Board, There's still gonna be an assload of modes to entertain me. MUST-BUY!!
Now we just need Mr. Driller on WW and I'll be good to go. And maybe, unlike the XBLA version, they can put in an online mode that ACTUALLY WORKS.
38. Mickeymac
31 Jul 2008, 21:55 BST
I never got Tetris DS, and everyone is going to have their own opinion. 18 modes mean that you're bound to find something you like, just don't expect to like them all( or most of them, for that matter). I'm gonna go check out the site to see if they mention some of them, to make the wait more excruciating.
Edit: They only mention 8 modes, some of which were obvious, but I'd say it's enough to quell my hunger for information at the moment. Right now, I'm most looking forward to the VS. Field Climber mode.

I kind of wish you could play online with a guest. The field climber thing looks the most unique, from what I've seen, plus that little guy looks like the ninja from N, so I'm unusually attracted to that mode.
I'm curious though, with the Wii Remote controls, are you going to drag the piece like in Virus Buster, or is it something else entirely?
