If you Euro, Kiwi and Auzzie gamers were on the fence about buying Pop today on WiiWare, here is a press release direct from the creative chaps at Nnooo which might help you change your mind.
Of course if you were in any doubt you could just read our Pop review also!
Friday, 4th July - Nnooo is thrilled to announce that Pop™ has launched on WiiWare™ in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Players pop bubbles to score points and stop the timer from running out.
Pop can be enjoyed by anyone – casual gamers can simply play to pop bubbles and keep the game moving, whereas advanced players will need to pick their shots rapidly and accurately and generate combos to maximize their score.
The downloadable video game has been designed with the whole family in mind - not only allowing children and parents to play a non-violent, fun game together, but also the ability to play it competitively.
“We were inspired by Nintendo’s approach to expanding the audience for video games, so we designed Pop to appeal to all Wii™ users and to take advantage of the innovative features, not only of the Wii, but also the Wii Remote™,” said Nic Watt, creative director, Nnooo.
“Pop is a pick up and play style game. It gives anyone the ability to jump in and start popping straight away.”
If someone is already playing a game of Pop™, anyone in the room can simply grab an extra Wii Remote and join straight in - no complex menu systems, no hassle in setting up the controller - just get popping!
“So, if your daughter is finding a part of the game difficult, you can jump in and help her or perhaps when your mates visit, all four of you can grab Wii Remotes and start competing for the highest scores,” added Watt.
Pop™ - a puzzle/shooter - was part of Nintendo’s WiiWare launch line up in the North America and is now available to download for 700 points in the Wii Shop Channel in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Still not interested in the game. I just can't see the appeal of popping bubbles

Was interested, then lost interest, then Demon's YouTube review got me interested again but ultimately I realised it's just too little too late. It's not Nooo's fault, they've just missed the boat. WiiWare is just not good enough to encourage me to want to spend money on products from the service anymore. Too many casual games and puzzlers, too much waiting and quite frankly not a damned thing that inspires me in the upcoming catalogue.
Pop has a good price tag and it looks like it'll be fun for about three/four days of 30 minute play (much like Actionloop) but at the end of the day I'm interested in games with long-term non-repetitive gameplay and for some unknown reason, most developers just don't seem to realise that it is possible despite the storage limitation, go down the puzzler route and implement stupidly huge amounts of repetitive levels or create an over-dependance on multiplayer to make a game fun. Whilst it might have been fresh on WiiWare about six weeks ago, I now find the approach cheap and uninspiring.
So, to answer your question more directly. No, I won't ever be bursting bubbles with Pop

Yeahhh, I've never gotten into the whole "pop bubbles" thing.
But different strokes for different folks.

Nothing beats the real thing. It's more fun just to go to a children's birthday party and go around popping the small childrens' balloons.

when I bought it, I stopped playing the game in like 3 days.

I'm enjoying it so far, but I wish the multiplayer lasted longer. A timer set would've been real useful IMHO.

@Junichi I didn't...do that...? I'm passing on Pop as well. Glad y'all have it now, though.

@ breaderer
that happened to me too.
I didn't find it appealing

Absolutely love this game. The dynamic breakbeat soundtrack is sublime and worth 700 pts alone.

I agree - the game itself isn't too bad. But the single player isn't too challenging (other than a high score), and the multiplayer is almost flawed to the point where they should either fix the "competitive/cooperative" gameplay or just remove multiplayer entirely.

Yeah, the soundtrack is belter

I don't know if it's worth it after all we have DYC an lostwinds 2 (still confused about the title, how do u lose wind anyway) coming soon so I might stick it out and get those 2 there way more interesting than pOp where u pop bubbles I grew outta that years ago I'm 14 I don't want to pop bubbles at my age how humiliating.

@breaderer- I also stopped playing Pop after about a week. It's not that I didn't like it, I just stopped for some reason. Maybe I'll play it soon.
@pagster- I know! I don't get the multiplayer! There needs to be an option on whether or not you want to play cooperatively or competetively.
Oh, and I wish a happy 4th to my fellow Americans.

happy 4th of july, and this game is actually pretty fun to play
@clayfrd- yeah i know i dont get the multiplayer much either
P.S.i have 1500 wii points left, should i get toki tori, or get gyrostarr and star soldier R?
18. ACK
05 Jul 2008, 19:06 BST
@ SRPirate: Toki Tori all day long. Gyrostarr and Star Soldier R are both good games in their own ways, but if you ask me, you'd be better off with one of the VC shmups, such as Soldier Blade for 600 pts...

I will get this purely for the fun aspect

Well I don't see the appeal of Pop and maybe if it was 500 points I would've looked into it. Forgive me if I seem ignorant but I just don't see the appeal of popping bubbles. I understand that some games doing the most simple things such as Tetris is fun and addicitive but popping bubbles? I don't know maybe its just not my cup of tea. But to everybody who enjoys it I am glad you do.

I've already got 2 puzzlers Dr. Mario and actionloop twist I just don't think I'd spend 700 points that after 1 hour of gaming I'd get bored but I think I would pick it up if it were online and had more depth popping bubbles is and never will be fun from the ages 5+.
22. AlexSays
06 Jul 2008, 09:38 BST
@ supermario2- Online in Pop? Not every game has to have online you know.
And nobody over the age of 5 enjoyed this game?
Riiight.

Whilst I do see the appeal of Pop, it's already been done in a similar and simpler fashion in a game that most of us already own - Wii Play. There are several games in Wii Play that offer varying but similar approaches and although there's not the power-ups, nor the online leader boards, I'd say the single and multiplayer experience is just as fun.
If you've got Wii Play, I'd suggest saving the points for the sake of saying you've got another, rather half-arsed casual game with the usual shovelled in attempt at offering online on Wii.

Can someone in Europe tell me how many blocks this and Ranch use? as my Wii is at Nintendo and I just wondered because WiiWare games tend to take more space here than in America.

Here's an idea, Gavin: Get neither of 'em!
I might not be from Europe, but neither of them are worth the points, trust me.
Actually, this game isn't that bad. I imagine that it wouldn't take up a lot of memory space.
