Cue Sports: Snooker vs. Billiards Coming To WiiWare In November

Posted Fri, 24 Oct 2008 by Corbie Dillard

Hudson hopes to continue their successful run of WiiWare titles with the upcoming release of their Cue Sports: Snooker vs. Billiards WiiWare title. The official Japanese site is now live for anyone that wants to check it out, but keep in mind the majority of the site is in Japanese.

Hudson have told us that they expect the game to see a US and European release sometime in November. They've also reminded us that Alien Crush Returns is still on track for an October release in the US and European regions as well. That's of course if Nintendo doesn't bump Hudson as they've already done twice with their Virtual Console releases.

We've also added 6 screen shots of the game in action to the game page which you can check out below as well as a game play video of the game in action. We'll have more information on Cue Sports: Snooker vs. Billiards as it becomes available, as well as a full review once the game hits the WiiWare service.

But we already have one pool game we don't really need another do we?
I do think that this one looks way better but still

They (ninty) better not bump Alien Crush Returns from next week's update...or I will have to crush them...

Not interested in pool games, but I'm with Objection_Blaster, Nintendo better bring us Alien Crush Returns next week.

Could it mean Alien Crush Returns this coming Monday for NA? Maybe but don't hold your breath since Nintendo shunted Hudson releases a few times in the past.

Cue Sports is okay I guess for a billiards game but it does have something Wii Play billiards and Midnight Pool do not have: Wi-Fi. It looks like you may be able to play against people through Wi-Fi but don't hold me to that. If it does though, it's a definite buy for me if the gameplay also is good.

This looks pretty nice for pool lovers.
I no longer have sympathy for the suckers who haven't learned any lessons from the wackness that are the "midnight" games. I learned early on from Block Breaker that all those games will keep featuring the ridiculous design of a VHS porn box as a thin veil for the shallow gameplay that they all exemplify. If anything they know how to market to kids raised on the Web. Even WWW warned us all about the bowling one and ya'll keep buying it anyway. See? just wait and a better game like this one will come.

I WANT ALIEN CRUSH NOW
But since we've had our last update of the month now, it looks like we're gonna have to wait for it (and Strong Bad 3). Why can't Ninty just release WiiWare games and VC games every week over here?

Either way, it'll be interesting to see how BvsP will do, considering Midnight Pool is already available.

Gee... now that makes you think... will Alien Crush come with StrongBadEp.3 on the 27... or will Alien Crush get pushed back some more... and we see something else unexpected with StrongBadEp.3... like Art Style: Rotohex... or PLEASE LET IT BE Home Sweet Home!! ;)

And yes... like everyone else... OMG, another billards game; I highly think Midnight Pool is enough we can sink out teeth into already!! :(

Alien Crush is gonna get bumped I just know it :(

Oh well maybe I'll give the art style games a look. I agree with Josh ZTP. I think we can retire the pool games after this

Well keep an open mind at least, been a while since there's been a good pool game imo...

I think this will trump Midnight Pool for certain. With Wi-Fi included, i can say that this will be a must buy. I wouldn't pay more than 1000 Points for this though.

20. Adamant Norway 24 Oct 2008, 13:18 BST

Psst, what's the difference between snooker and billiards anyway? I thought they (along with "pool")were just different names for the same game.

Bigger table, smaller holes, etc.

@wesleyh (#15): fair enough.

I'm e-mailing Ninty about todays European no-show for Strong Bad and Alien Crush, and am requesting they release WW and VC next Friday. I urge everyone to do the same: the e-mail addy is on their 'site.

Their backlog is so long they won't actually read until after the date you've mentioned but it is worth trying as these last few updates have been unacceptly poor :( Also, the customer services don't talk much with the departments that makes these decisions :(

As for this game. Seeing as the Billiards in Wii Play is enough for me (note the words for me...I do understand other people will like more in depth versions) I hope for Alien Crush Returns sooner rather than later (as despite being lame at Pinball games I do enjoy them) otherwise I'll just keep playing Metroid Prime Pinball (which dare I say is probably better than Alien Crush Returns).

At least it isn't a puzzle game!
Its a competative physics based puzzle game. You have to pot the balls into the holes in a certain order...

Alien Crush won't see an October release in Europe, we had our last October WW Update today...

@Angelic Lapras King (are you new here? if so: hi): we worked out that much, which is why we're all so p*ssed off.

@Starwofl_UK: It depends how lucky you are. Sometimes I've had replies back the next day, but there are still a few e-mails that never got a reply at all. Either way, they're bound to notice how much we all want a weekly update instead of a fortnightly one, so it's (sort of) win-win.
Oh, and also: you seem to be posting a lot of big "comments" at the moment. Nothing else to do?

versus22

27. Versus22 Canada 24 Oct 2008, 20:11 BST

I always post long, long comments if I want to talk about a subject. I really need to say far fewer, more effective words but my education basically taught me more words is better and its hard to break that.

The frequency is the difference. When there is a lot of news I talk alot and frequently and when there isn't, I don't say much.

Alien Crush seems really unlikely about releasing Monday in North America right now. Strong bad 3 has already been confirmed and I doubt Nintendo will go back on their word to release two Art Styles in October so Rotohex will have to be it.

The only way I can see it happening is if Rothex surprisingly DOESNT come out or if theres THREE WiiWare games released on Monday.

AC Returns got 68% from ONM UK. Their reviews aren't exactly trustworthy though.

wiiloveitonline

33. Wiiloveit United Kingdom 25 Oct 2008, 11:12 BST

@Gavin: I agree - that 91% score for Wii Play was ridiculous - and I seem to recall Toki Tori getting something like 68%. Oh, and 85(ish)% for Cranium Kabookii? All the mentalness and bias led me to turn to NGamer instead, and I've never looked back (at least, since many of ONM's reviews are avsilable online anyway).

stedaman

34. stedaman United Kingdom 25 Oct 2008, 16:15 BST

Unless they decide to do VC and Wiiware next Friday we won't be getting Alien Crush it seems. Just had our Wiiware week so...

wiiloveitonline

35. Wiiloveit United Kingdom 27 Oct 2008, 20:06 GMT

Right - I got a reply from Ninty. I can't copy it directly, but it basically said that there is no link between US and UK releases, and that not everyone is going to like whats on offer every now and then. It seems that they didn't take notice of the fact that I was mainly asking for them to do weekly releases rather than fortnightly. Ah well...
