The world has gone goo crazy!
It's Wednesday again which can only mean one thing. It's time to take a look at the most popular WiiWare titles available in the Wii Shop. If you're feeling adventurous you can even take a look for yourself by simply logging on to your Wii Shop channel, heading into the WiiWare section and then viewing "Popular Games". It's that simple! Trust us, if we can do it, anyone can.
We compile this list using the USA region Wii Shop channel, so if you live elsewhere your list will probably be quite a bit different. Please feel free to post your region's findings below as always.
Keep in mind that the list below is a measure of actual sales made recently, not of the total time the game has been available for sale.

The first thing you will probably notice from this week’s chart is that World of Goo has achieved the unthinkable and dethroned even the mighty Mega Man 9 from his short reign in the top spot. It shows that all those positive reviews must have really made an impact for a relatively unknown company like 2D Boy to win such approval from the causal WiiWare downloader. We can’t argue, it deserves all the success it gets!
No surprises that Tetris Party jumped straight up to fourth place despite only being out a couple of days. It should predictably be in first or second place by next week. For a change all the top five games are ones WiiWare World rated highly at 8 or above. Maybe it is just a happy coincidence but we like to hope we played some small part in assisting sane download choices this week. However despite our wise council we are disappointed to see that Midnight Bowling has made it to 6th place!
Art Style: Cubello seems to have failed to make the same impact as its sibling Orbient did, better luck next week! Another game which surprisingly hasn’t made a huge impact is Strong Bad Episode 2, considering how well Episode 1 did originally this is a shock. Perhaps all those publishers seeing dollars in their eyes considering episodic games should rethink their plans slightly?
This week’s game to fall into the pit of fire is Family Table Tennis, for the average game that it is it has had an impressive run, hopefully this will be the last we see of it now. Now where is The Incredible Maze this week?

Tetris Party should've stormed the charts for next Wednesday, probably replacing Mega Man 9 or Helix in the upper positions. Hopefully we'll also get Alien Crush or Art Style, but due to the lack of US release thus far, it doesn't look like we're going to be getting a new episode of Strong Bad this month
UPDATE: As of 5:00-ish Thursday, Defend your Castle has interestingly swapped places with Mega Man 9. That is all.

Not seeing TIM doesn't surprise me. I bet many were turned off from the footage and concluded it to be shovelware. Honestly, I think it may be worth trying but ONLY because of Balance board Support. It should be a nice diversion till Kororinpa 2 or another game like it hits.

Yay for World Of Goo! Just finished Chapter 1 last night. Having a blast playing it, and totally worth the $15.
The thing with Strongbad #2 - hardly anyone is going to just impulse buy it. If they are undecided on if they want a Strongbad game or not, they'll go with Episode 1. Plus, some people didn't really like Ep#1, so pretty much any subsequent release is doomed to have lower sales than the original.
Actually, I'm kind of surprised they didn't just sell a single game and had the sequels available as DLC's.

@Seth: I didn't enjoy the second one half as much as the first to be honest, but the third one looks pretty good, so here's hoping it's going to be worth the wait. I am still slightly surprised that the second one still isn't selling as well though. Wonder how episode five will end up doing?

So what's to note this week...
*No new entries this week, although that was to be expected since there were no new releases.
*Starting from the top, Mega Man 9 has now extended it's streak in the top spot where it has resided since like 10 hours after its release.
*Helix is still fourth. This is the fourth straight week for it in that position. As much as it died spectacularly in the US it seems to be a big success in Europe.
*Midnight Bowling jumped up 5 spots from last weeks 10th place and is with that the chart's biggest climber. The free fall should start any minute now.
*A bit in the shadow of Helix, LostWinds is also maintaining strong form which in a way is much more impressive since it was a launch title. It's 6th for the third time in four weeks.
*Star Soldier R is still charting, in fact, it's climbing...
*Potpourrii is still charting aswell even though I predicted it would implode on itself and drop out. Still, its meek 2 spot advancement is not particularly impressive for such a new game so I'll predict again that Potpourrii will now finally head southwards, especially with new releases impending.
*Strong Bad Episode 1 fell four spots to 20th and is with that this week's biggest faller. It's now dangerously close to being booted. I never thought that would happen this quickly.
Next week will however be quite interesting. With Tetris Party and Space Invaders Get Even most likely released aswell as possibly 1 or 2 more surprises, things could change a lot in the chart.

All I can say is it could'nt have been a more perfect top 5 games for this awesome week!
GO World of Goo and Tetris Party; you two deserve to be on top with Megaman, Bomberman, and My Aquarium!
And hey people; at least PONG TOSS is making it steadily DECLINE and shortly soon here after; maybe in a few weeks... it'll soon BE GONE and OUT OF OUR LIVES!!!

Wow, thats a great top 5. The only one i disagree a little with is my aquarium but thats ok. On a side note, has anyone downloaded the incredible maze? I was thinking of buying it but am wondering if it's worth 5 bucks? Could someone tell me if it's good or not?

Great to see Wolrd of Goo and MM9 at the top! Its also only natural for Epi2+ of Strongbad, etc. to have lower sales than episode 1 of the series.

To answer the question. Using homebrew you can access any Wii shop and yes that means you can visit the Japan shop for oh so cheap points and the US shop for your world of goo fix*

I know World of Goo is good but I didn't think it would be the game to topple Mega man 9. It's not that great is it? Surely it's just because it's a totally new concept and I have a feeling it will drop eventually once the hype wears off.

People who download Pong Toss are merely naive fools who will learn the error of their ways when college ends (if they survive the binging and drunk driving, that is.) Anyone who downloads My Pokemon Ranch, WITHOUT regretting it, deserves for their Wii to not only break down, but self-destruct, then cause a blackout and force them to eat nothing but spam and cold canned ravioli until they go to confession. "Please father, forgive me, I... bought My Pokemon Ranch and didn't regret it. I decided that I enjoy overpriced screen-savers with horrendous "cute" graphics SO MUCH, I must give Nintendo financial support to make more lazy crap just like it in the future, thus flipping the finger to the serious Pokemon fans who have actual taste in quality software" "Go away. Ah, it's Wednesday again, which means it's chart day!
This week wasn't as marvelous as the last one, but it's still not bad. It sucks to see Orbient fall all the way to #11, and it pains me to see Midnight Bowling so high up, but still not bad. I'm surprised to see Goo finally beat out MM9, and Tetris Party's not doing too bad at all for it's first 3 days. It's gonna hit #1 by next week for sure!

I say it's good, being for one... I still need to get it, because I haven't had the chance to get points at all for a long time. And that people love fish and simulation games... it's like with Endless Ocean, which is indeed a great game!
