This week doesn't just bring us one game from a high-profile developer - It brings us two! They come together with yet another game from one of WiiWare's strongest supporters, Gameloft.
The release of Alien Crush Returns shouldn't really come as a surprise if you keep an eye on every region's releases - The US got it earlier this week. Alien Crush Returns is sort of a sequel to the TurboGrafx-16 game Alien Crush (Although its real sequels were Devil's Crush, also on TG16, and Jaki Crush for SNES), featuring the same theme - Defeat hordes of aliens with pinball power! The game has a lot more content than its predecessor - Bosses, more than one table, online play and more - We think you'll be entertained for quite a while. The game only costs 800 Wii Points as well.
Gameloft's Brain Challenge is exactly what you think it is - Yet another "brain training" game. Brain Challenge was already released on Xbox Live Arcade and the Nintendo DS before, and it actually got some pretty positive reviews - It certainly seems to be one of the better clones of the original Brain Training, but we're a little put off by the 1000 Wii Points price tag.
Our favourite pixellated invaders have also finally arrived on WiiWare. Space Invaders Get Even is the first Space Invaders game to do things a little differently - After years of being shot by laser cannons over and over, it's now finally time to get revenge! In this game, you don't play as the laser cannon, but as the invaders themselves -Your aim is to destroy everything on planet Earth! How can you not like the game's plot? For 500 Wii Points it's also a steal, but beware - You'll only get a "starter pack", and you have to buy the rest of the game's levels for a total of 1500 Wii Points (3 packs of 500 Points each). The game also already came out in Japan a while ago - We wrote some first impressions for it, which might be interesting to read.
That's it for this week - Yes, still no Strong Bad Episode 3! At this rate the US will have Episode 4 before we get 3!

first!!
Wow, not a bad week...not bad by any means. Certainly makes up for the last few disappointments. I might get Alien Crush Returns.
...or Space Invaders get Even?...or wait for Gradius Rebirth? Or just go out and buy some more Wii points?! Ahhh, too many options...options...I'll wait for Gradius. ^^

STILL NO ARTSTYLE...STILL NO ART STYLE. Seriously, I'm considering boycotting WiiWare until they arrive.
Well I only have 500 Wii Points left and would prefer not to buy Wii points @ £7/1000 (I can get £6/1000 but I have to wait for delivery) so that leaves it with Space Invaders.
On the bright side two new games means the European review team can get busy

Not bad, they are getting there, but they are still missing one game. You need four games each fortnight NoE. Artstyle or SB would of been a nice fourth.

Yay for reviews!
@Starwolf: I presume you were reffering to Tesco's £11.99 for a 2000 card deal on their 'site? I know what you mean, though. I only tend to get stuff online if it's a pre-order these days.

Looks like a good week on the Wiiware front. I know a lot of people have gone crazy over Alien Crush Returns, so I can appreciate this being one to look out for, that's for sure.
Concerning those disappointed that SBCG4AP Episode 3 didn't come out this week, I know how it feels like. In America, the games usually get released the Monday AFTER a recent Wiiware update, and coupled with the not-so-powerful European sales I shouldn't be surprised over the delay.
If you really can't wait for just two more weeks in the hope of seeing it again, you can still give the PC version a go - I'm not usually a PC gamer at all due to the awkwardness of maintaining your computer with the latest specs, but it somehow works fine on my wimpy machine, or at least from what I saw in the demo. So, if you want, you can try the demo and if you still think you'd get a kick, then go on and buy that. I know it won't be the same, but it'll hold you over either way

Edward J Grug III: I remember reading that World of Goo is being released on a retail disc in Europe instead of on Wiiware. However, I doubt they'd bother releasing it in Australia, which means your best bet is to buy it for PC/Mac, on the World of Goo website, playgreenhouse.com or Steam.

That doesn't make sense, it's the highest rated game on Wii right now, why would they not release it here?

You know on the Nintendo Channel, Brain Challenge is dated for a November 10th release... so I'd highly predict it'll come out next week!!
And yes, not a bad week for EU... and hopefully Space Invaders will come out here soon too!!

07 Nov 2008, 07:56 GMT
I'm glad we didn't get Strong Bad seeing as it sucks and I'm sick of seeing reviews that say each episode is more of the same. Lucky for us then we got a pretty strong week - I've actually managed to spend the 3,000 points I've been waiting to spend for the past month!
As one of the few occasions where NoE have done something right, I must congratulate them.

"You'll only get a "starter pack", and you have to buy the rest of the game's levels for a total of 1500 Wii Points (3 packs of 500 Points each)."
...and that's why I'm not going to be buying the Space Invaders game! Way to price yourselves out of the market, idiots! Alien Crush Returns looks pretty cool though...

Not a bad week but I won't be getting any of these.
@Wiiloveit: Thanks for telling me about that offer, I'll be buying points more often now. I wish I found this earlier, I only bought a card last week.
If we don't get an Art Style game in two weeks I'll be severely disappointed.

They bait u in with a low price, and if u get addicted u pay lots more lol. Hopefully they keep makin more DLC too.
I don't think there can be much more DLC. You see the base game take ups over 300 blocks then each of the DLC packs is about 100 blocks totaling just under 600 blocks for the whole package.
Who has that sort of space on their Wiis?
If the DLC was more like 200 points I doubt anyone would complain
40. ness
07 Nov 2008, 12:09 GMT
A good update, but still no 'Art Style' game, i can't understand it =(.
@ Space Invaders Get Even: O.K., it's not expensive, but you just get one stage!
And 500 Points for each level pack? So you have to pay 2000 points to get the full game?! Sorry, but for me this looks like a deceptive package and is definitively to pricey...
And ~ 650 blocks are also too much in comparison to the space on the Wii.

07 Nov 2008, 13:48 GMT
Wow, really good week. I gathered that Alien Crush might be released and Space Invaders was due last month, so that's quite good but i was hoping for an Art Style game. I'm not too fussed over Brain Challenge so i'm just glad to see it out of the way but with Art Style games, we've been waiting for ages while America has 3. Hardly fair.
Also, i have to say that i had no idea there was another Crush game in the series. I know quite a few games that are pretty obscure but that one completely slipped me. I'll look out for that in the future, although with Alien Crush Returns out at the same price Jaki Crush, it might not sell well.

Yes! Now I might have some more challengers on ACR's versus mode! Unfortunately, this also means my high scores are gonna get challenged back down to normal levels. Darn.

Space Invaders Get Even looks like it could be fun... I really want Animales De La Muerte to come out on Monday, so I'm going to hold out for that. But if it doesn't come out yet, then I'll probably get Earthworm Jim and Proto Man with my 1,000 Wii Points that I have left right now.

07 Nov 2008, 17:00 GMT
Space Invaders seems like a cool concept and I'd probably get it if the review is positive and indicates that you aren't required to buy all the levels to get a decent game length.

I downloaded space invaders i think its quite cool and quite funny u can abduct a cow to get extra time and bit of good fun and the star fox esque voice chatter u get from the the people shootin at u, it more of a rack up as many points as u can game to get high on the leader board it is a good fun shooter and has good bright colourful look only downside i see really is the DLC 500 for few more levels and the total space it takes up somethin like 600 blocks.. So to me i think wont see to much more in the way of DLC as u wouldnt have much room for anythin else

@ ness
I think I hit somewhere in the top 30 on Level 3 the other day. It'll tell you that it took me 8 hours too! The thing is I had to go somewhere in the middle of it and it apparently continues to count time even when paused...

No space invaders is a single player game works in the same way as star soldier does with the online leader boards

Hi, I've already post this on the ACR Review topic.
Hi.
Yesterday, I made 68.000.000 pts on table 3 in 1hour (I left pass last balls because I had to go ^^ ) . But my score is no listed on the leaderboards.
http://www.hudson.co.jp/ww/aliencrush/usa/e/ranking_ac3_01.html

Do you have to make other special thing to send your score?

Not many people seem to have bought this game, or play it online. It took me ages to get an opponent this morning. Still, since all of you crazy Americans were asleep, I'll let you off.
Without looking at the Wii Shop sales though, I can tell that this game is being neglected. I mean, come on - the leaderboard only has the top 52 spaces filled so far (out of 1000).
I think what's more distressing (for me, at least), is that I'm 49th out of all those. Oops.
57. SmaMan
08 Nov 2008, 18:34 GMT
@ness
No I don't think your place on the boards depends on time. With my 8 hour score I was placed between to one hour scorers.
@Ouazegaga
Try scrolling down a bit when you're looking at the Wi-Fi leaderboards. I missed mine a few times, but I'd always find it eventually.
@Wiiloveit
If you're still on, this crazy American is looking for some challengers right now! I was actually so lucky as to do a 4 PLAYER match just now!
58. ness
09 Nov 2008, 08:57 GMT
@ Wiiloveit: That is wrong, the leaderboard does not only has the top 52 spaces filled, because you always see some place behind you, not every place. For example 2 days ago i was on place ~ 120.
