It's Wednesday again and time for the WiiWare Top 20!

It's time to take a look at the most popular WiiWare titles available on the Wii Shop Channel. If you're feeling adventurous you can even take a look for yourself by simply logging on to your Wii Shop Channel, heading into the WiiWare section and then viewing "Popular Games". It's that easy!

We compile this list using the USA region Wii Shop channel, so if you live elsewhere your list will probably be quite a bit different. Please feel free to post your region's findings below as always.

Keep in mind that the list below is a measure of actual sales made recently, not of the total time the game has been available for sale.

Here is the list for the 17th of June:

1 (1) - Final Fantasy IV: The After Years
2 (3) - Texas Hold'em Tournament
3 (10) - Swords & Soldiers
4 (4) - My Aquarium
5 (5) - World of Goo
6 (6) - Tetris Party
7 (2) - Bubble Bobble Plus
8 (7) - My Pokémon Ranch
9 (9) - Dr Mario Online Rx
10 (11) - Defend Your Castle
11 (13) - Onslaught
12 (8) - Adventure Island: The Beginning
13 (12) - Cue Sports - Pool Revolution
14 (14) - Fun! Fun! Minigolf
15 (15) - Brain Challenge
16 (17) - Mega Man 9
17 (20) - Sandy Beach
18 (18) - Bomberman Blast
19 (19) - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King
20 (16) - Silver Star Chess

* (N) - Denotes a brand new entry on the Top 20
* (--) - Denotes a game that was not on the Top 20 last week

Well Final Fantasy IV: The After Years manages to hold on to the top spot for another week, with Texas Hold'em Tournament sneaking up into the second spot.

The big climber this week is Swords & Soldiers, which jumps seven spots to #3 on this week's Top 20. The big dropper this week is Bubble Bobble Plus, which fell five spots to #7.

We didn't see any of this week's releases make the Top 20 and World of Goo and My Aquarium both manage to hold onto their spots at #5 and #4 respectively. We did see Adventure Island: The Beginning and Silver Star Chess begin their descent down the Top 20. Who knows where they'll end up next week? :)

7. Egg miester United States 17 Jun 2009, 14:43 BST

i can't understand why texas hold'em is so high, poor bubble bobble is falling hard and fast, and adventure island is falling a little, even awesome megaman can't stop from falling

Hopefully this will get them to release more online multi-player card games. Won't mind slightly higher quality, but it's poker I didn't need that much.

Homer Simpson

9. Homer Simpson Australia 17 Jun 2009, 14:53 BST

I still think this should be merged with the DSiWare top 20. And why not add the VC top 20 to the same article?

Rum Rapture

10. Rum Rapture United Kingdom 17 Jun 2009, 15:25 BST

I remember people being surprised at Texas Hold'em Tournament doing so well last week. But it's been a big thing all over Europe for ages now.

@Homer Simpson: WiiWare and DSiWare are bought from different shops and played on different systems, so it makes sense to have different posts for the top sellers. The VC top 20 doesn't really change at all. People complain that WiiWare doesn't change enough to merit its own weekly Top 20; VC is a hundred times worse!

Anyway, UK:

1 (2) - Final Fantasy IV: The After Years
2 (1) - My Aquarium
3 (3) - World of Goo
4 (4) - Texas Hold'em Tournament
5 (5) - Swords & Soldiers
6 (6) - Onslaught
7 (8) - Pop-Up Pirate!
8 (7) - My Pokemon Ranch
9 (9) - Bomberman Blast
10 (10) - Defend Your Castle
11 (12) - FUN! FUN! Minigolf
12 (14) - Tetris Party
13 (11) - BIT.TRIP BEAT
14 (19) - TV Show King
15 (17) - Bubble Bobble Plus!
16 (15) - The Incredible Maze
17 (16) - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King
18 (13) - Fish'em All!
19 (N) - Snowboard Riot
20 (18) - Equilibrio

Up: The After Years tops the chart now. TV Show King inexplicably goes up 5. Tetris Party hasn't been that high for ages.
Down: My Aquarium, but for how long?! Fish'em All drops 5, and it only entered last week.
Hello: Snowboard Riot, making a reappearance at 18.
Goodbye: Rainbow Islands Towering Adventure!

Three new games, none make it to the Top 20. Fish 'em All is on its second no-show week. I guess we're back to the normal grind.

Congratulations to Swords & Soldiers, it definitely deserves to be up there! Where is Eduardo the Samurai Toaster? Will it break into the top 20 next week?

The success of Final Fantasy 4 on WiiWare shows what happens when a "real" game is released instead of shovelware....more people will buy the real game
