She looks nasty!

She looks nasty!

Here's another ferocious fighter from the upcoming WiiWare release.

Ed Roman, CEO of Ghostfire Games, has just sent over another brand new gameplay video from their upcoming Rage of the Gladiator WiiWare release for everyone to check out.

You can check out a snippet of information that accompanied the video along with the Sea Witch gameplay video itself below.

The Sea Witch’s Story:

The Sea Witch was found washed ashore by the nearby sea adjacent to Avalance. She is a cruel creation of the gods, being half woman and half reptile. Her human half craves human companionship and attention. But her reptilian side is vicious, and strikes out in instinct and fear. As a result, she is still searching for a suitable mate after 20 years.

About Rage of the Gladiator

Rage of the Gladiator is a fantasy-based fighting game. You play the role of Gracius, battling for his life in the arena against 11 unique enemies.
Your equipment consists of a magical war-hammer and a trusty shield. Wait for the right moment, then dodge, jump, or block your enemy's attacks. Next, unleash your rage by brutally pounding your enemy with your war-hammer and bashing them with your shield.

Each opponent has a unique style and pattern that you need to pay close attention to. Learn to exploit the weakness of each enemy with the proper timing and agility, and you will triumph.

As you advance past each battle, you will gain access to devastating combos. Early on, you may learn how to leap into the skies and plunge your war-hammer into the ground, creating a pillar of fire that burns your enemy to a crisp. As you progress you may learn more deadly combos, such as conjuring an ancient tornado to lay the ground asunder.

We'll have more information on Rage of the Gladiator as it becomes available, as well as a full review when the game hits the WiiWare service.

Ghostfire really outdid themselves.
When a small developer makes a game that is as good as a Nintendo powerhouse IP, you know they really cared.... Or Nintendo doesn't anymore. lol

Either way, totally buying this game.

Due to complaints from readers about us showing too many videos of the game and "giving too much away" we weren't going to put the video up, but we changed our minds. So sue us. :P

I'm the producer for the game. Feel free to ask any questions about the game... I'd be happy to answer them!

This game looks ridiculously fun! Instant buy for me! @ghostfire No questions Ed, but could you pass along a highfive for me to the team responsible?

This chick sounds like my exes. I think I've heard every single one of her lines in real life. Can't wait to meet this one.

Any particular genre Ghostfire games would like to work on in the future?

Corbie

11. Corbie United States 08 Oct 2009, 21:23 BST

Yeah, bullet hell shooters. Right Ed? I'll beg if necessary. Maybe even pony up some money. :)

But seriously, this game is stunning. This definitely does not look like a WiiWare title.

@ShamusErhin26: Will do :)
@Reala: We'd love to work on a sequel. We would feel privileged to do so, and we'll make that decision based on sales of this game.
@Cobie: Bullet Hell shooters.. who could pass that up? grin

LOL. That lady is funny. It's not meant to be funny, but i couldn't help laugh at her tone. How many voice actors did you guy's throw in this game?

Frack me, don't compare this site to IGN ffs. NL have shown far more footage of this game than IGN AND since when do you get the actual game developers coMing on ign talking about the game forum posts style?!

Anyway, insta-download all the way this one.

@odd69: There are 11 bosses in the game, plus the main hero. Each character has its own voice.

This game looks so awesome! Rage of the Gladiator has become one of my most wanted games on WiiWare. Ghostfire Games seems to be putting a lot of effort into this game. I hope it comes out soon because I cannot wait to play it!:)

I hadn't been paying any attention to this game until now, but I clicked on this article out of curiosity of the Medusa-like enemy. Game looks pretty sweet, actually. :)

@Ed- Is the gameplay going to be similar to Punch Out Wii's? Did that game inspire you to make this? Do they use the same engine?

This game is getting better and better! Still not sure if I'm gonna download it though.

@Ghostfire: Can you only play as the main character? Is there unlockables? A save feature? leaderboard of some sort. Nothing online right?
Hope this comes out soon. :)

ghostfire

23. ghostfire United States 09 Oct 2009, 00:58 BST

@Pikamander2: There were numerous inspirations for this game. 1980s Punch Out was one of them, but so was God of War, Final Fantasy, Crossed Swords, and the movie 300!
@longtimegamer: Yes, you control only one character, named Gracius. There is an intriguing story that comes along with him as you learn about why he is in the arena. There is an unlockable "Challenge Mode" where you need to fight all the bosses over again with all-new tougher abilities, and there are also skills and abilities that you unlock via a tech tree. There is a save feature where you can store your progress. Its a single-player experience.

Swerd_Murd

@ghostfire - is the mode you referenced called Title Defense mode? :D I kid, I kid; the game looks phenomenal. Give your squadron a chest-bump courtesy of Swerd Murderous.

Hope there is a skeleton in it, if not could be something to add in the sequel, can't go wrong with skeletons after all, especially if you give them a scythe.

@ Reala - I agree completely! :D

Objection_Blaster

29. Objection_Blaster United States 10 Oct 2009, 21:35 BST

@Bulbasaurus Rex-People need to stop complaining about that sort of thing. Not everyone here bothers with IGN, so shared stories shouldn't be a big deal.
