Enter their competition where you can have your suggestions implemented and win a collection of prizes
For game developers, striking that balance between keeping the idea as close to their conception as possible whilst also taking gamer feedback and suggestions into consideration must be a difficult thing to achieve. Logically thinking, obtaining this harmony must be the key to making a great game. That's exactly the kind of action that Icon Games has taken since the release of Stunt Cars for WiiWare.
Our very own Corbie Dillard found too many faults with the first Stunt Cars, but fast-forward three months and it seems that Icon Games is reaching out for constructive feedback from gamers in order to make Stunt Cars 2 as best as they can.
Icon Games is running a competition where gamers can suggest new features and ideas they would like the developers to incorporate into the sequel. There are no rules as such; just play the first Stunt Cars, and tell them what you think should be different with the sequel by sending an email with game suggestions and your contact details to comp[at]icongames.com. The best three ideas will be chosen by Icon Games and the winners will receive the following prizes:
- A copy of their upcoming WiiWare and PSP game RaceTrax upon release
- Dedicated in-game billboard design, featuring their name in RaceTrax
- A special thanks in the RaceTrax credits
- 2000 Nintendo Wii Points
The competition is open to gamers of all ages and the deadline is April 30.

Sorry, but I don't think gamer feedback can help a company who made a product considered poorly designed across the board. Just ask High Voltage.

Consider looking at Sega's history of making racing games. They have made classic racing games. Can implement ideas from their past titles?

Even if the game ultimately comes out bad, I still wanna try to get my name in the credits of a game. I'm going for it!

I guess Trackmania will be a much bigger hit, if it will support online gaming on the Wii.

RaceTrax? I thought it was called Stunt Cars 2?

Yeah, I think we might need some clarification on the title, I'm not sure which it is as I've seen it referred to as both titles

what does best "3 ideas" mean? is that like cool new concepts, or really basic stuff that they failed at the first time around? If it's the latter then they shouldn't need a contest to figure out at least 3 of those. sounds like a ploy to get someone to download the first one.

I emailed them.
I don't really know or care if I'm choosen, I just hope they take some feedback people send them and help make their next game a lot better.

Stunt Cars 2, and RaceTrax are two separate games.

Interesting, I might have to give this a go.
And by this, I mean the contest, not the game itself.

Eh, I'll pass. I would love to win a game that may be crap and get my name in it along with 2000 Wii Points, but I really don't think I would want to buy a game that was heavily criticized just to try and win all that junk.

No matter what they do, the controls have to be good.

It's pretty hard to make a unique racing game these days.
Unless it's a simulator, you're basically going after Mario Kart players.
First I would say, for inspiration go take a look at San Fransico Rush 2049. It's an arcade racer that pulls no punches about what it is: completely off the wall and insane.
As for improvements, I haven't played the game myself but have heard that the controls are pretty iffy. If you can't get to grips with motion steering like Excite Truck did then just scrap it and use the analogue stick. Then you need a hook, something that sets your game apart. The most leeway you have in this genre is the track design. But there are plenty of other things you can try, just use your imagination!
This is something that has sadly been lost on many modern developers, the ability to think outside the box.

I didn't buy the first stunt cars game. Because of the bad review on this site. So i cannot help you. Have a nice day

This seemed like a good idea until "all you have to do is download Stunt Cars and play it." Now it just seems like a massive BUY OUR RUBBISH GAME marketing gambit. I'll pass.

Hey guys, I've posted before, but just to recap I'm the owner of Icon Games - just read the comments and thought I'd answer some of the queries:
"I emailed them.
I don't really know or care if I'm choosen, I just hope they take some feedback people send them and help make their next game a lot better."
Ta
We've taken on all the feedback we've had to date on Stunt Cars; as an example we have stripped out all the car handling and physics code and we are in the process of replacing it all with a completely new system for Race Trax and Stunt Cars 2.
"what does best "3 ideas" mean? is that like cool new concepts, or really basic stuff that they failed at the first time around? If it's the latter then they shouldn't need a contest to figure out at least 3 of those. sounds like a ploy to get someone to download the first one."
It means we will choose 3 people whose ideas we like the best, and they will each receive the prizes/billboard and credit.
We don't need ideas on improvements from the first game, as mentioned we are very aware of all feedback in that regard. We are looking for any cool new ideas, maybe something a little quirky and unique that would suit a sequel to Stunt Cars.
"do we really need to download the game to enter in the competition?"
No - you don't.
"This seemed like a good idea until "all you have to do is download Stunt Cars and play it." Now it just seems like a massive BUY OUR RUBBISH GAME marketing gambit. I'll pass."
The suggestion to download and play is so you actually get a feel for the game, rather than just using the review as a basis - as we are keen to see ideas that gel with the basic style of the game, rather than say just generic race game suggestions like online play, better handling, etc...
I'll try and keep up with the thread here and respond to any further questions.

I saw a trailer of this game and I really think it could use drifting like Mario Kart has, with different 'stages' of powering up the drift, like Mario Kart's red, yellow and blue sparks around the tires.
Also, the tracks should be smaller in width, or otherwise adjusted to give a greater sense of speed. The trailer made the game seem rather slow-paced.
However, the fact that the developer personally replied in this thread is good enough of a reason to go ahead and support their efforts, even if it may not be a perfect game.
Next time I purchase Nintendo Points (waiting for Sonic 4 Ep 1) I'll make sure to get 2000 points and get this game too. Or the sequel to Stunt Cars 1, whichever comes first.
