Miffy, so the song goes, is a sweet little bunny, and Wii owners will soon get the chance to meet the cute rodent as Miffy's World is on the way to WiiWare.
Taking the popular character and her friends, Miffy's World is billed as a simulation game that lets young children and their parents explore the world through quests and puzzles. With suitably cutesy graphics and an inventive parental control feature that lets parents set a time at which the game will automatically save and shutdown, this could be a fun way to introduce very young children to the wonders of Wii.
Launching this summer we'll have more details on Miffy's World as they arrive. In the meantime, have a look over this press release and coo at some of the adorable screenshots below.
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – 25th June 2010 – PAN Vision Group, a leading independent Nordic publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment based in Stockholm Sweden, in conjunction with Mercis bv, the Amsterdam based licensor, are pleased to announce that one of the leading brands in children’s entertainment over the last half century, Miffy, is set to make its long awaited appearance on videogames consoles with Miffy’s World debuting on WiiWare™ in summer 2010.
Developed by independent Portuguese game developer Biodroid, and featuring the star of approximately 120 books which have sold in excess of 85 million copies worldwide since her debut in 1955, Miffy’s World is a simulation game world for children featuring the rabbit Miffy and her cast of animal friends. Helping to stimulate the creative aspects of the imagination through the game’s quests and puzzles, children are encouraged to explore the world of Miffy and interact with its array of colourful characters.
Miffy’s World also has an innovative parent control feature. Because the game is aimed at young children it will only be playable from the real world hours of 6am to 9pm. Time in the game is synchronized with the Wii’s internal clock and real time will be visible by the relative position of the sun from sunrise to sunset and on the clock inside Miffy’s house. When 9pm approaches (or at any time chosen by the parent) an alert will be sent to the player, the game
will be saved and an animation will show Miffy going to bed.
Miffy’s Mom or Dad can also be controlled by a parent at the same time as their child is playing as Miffy. Although they cannot directly interact with the game world they can point at various objects using a second controller and thus help with any quests or puzzles that children may
need encouragement with. If a parent is not available however, Miffy’s Mom and Dad have scripted behaviours; they will never leave the house if not controlled by a player, they will initiate quests for Miffy to undertake outside in the game world, and they will also perform the ‘help’ function throughout the game whenever the player is not progressing.

that is a great save and shutdown feature. i know a lot of parents who want to monitor the time kids spend playing games and not just the content of the games they play and forcing that could be a great way to train that "hour-a-day" (or however long the parent decides) of play habit into the kid from a young age.
"one of the leading brands in children’s entertainment over the last half century?" I've never heard of this book series.
@Bulbasaurus Rex
Thats because it is more popular in Europe It was everywhere inthe Netherlands when I was living there.
Jup, Miffy (Nijntje) is awesome. This look like a nice little adventure like game.
I'm actually tempted to buy Miffy's World. Such a "sweet little bunny..."
Yeah, I've never heard of this, either, but is it weird that I'm 22 and I think it looks like a good game?
I live in Belgium and it is one of the most popular children programmes here.
I think this will be a great game for kids.
If we point out that Miffy is the direct inspiration for Hello Kitty, does that help people who might not know her?
I don't recognize the name but the bunny sure looks familiar. Might be a cool game for little kids but considering my little sister is 8 years old and likes most of the games I do, I don't think she will like this.
I heard about this on tv around here time ago, it's isn't really my cup of tea .
But anything that helps developing the industry around here in Portugal is always welcome.
I've never heard of Miffy. Is it a European cartoon? Because it looks like the sort of cartoon that Kipper the Dog was, which DID make its way to the 'states eventually.
Anyway, I'm far too old to really care about this:) I just like the art style because it reminded me of Kipper!
