If this first trailer is anything to go by, it appears that Gaijin Games' BIT.TRIP series is coming full circle with the final entry, BIT.TRIP FLUX. Not only is it the final entry in the acclaimed series, but it looks to play exactly like show-starter BEAT. Except, you know, now playing in the opposite direction.
FLUX looks to be taking care of one of the biggest criticisms of BEAT by adding mid-level checkpoints while also throwing in a bunch of more stuff like new beats and power-ups. BitShifter makes a return as the chip guest musician as well.
Gaijin said the game is expected "soon," and we've reached out to see if we can figure out exactly what "soon" means. Until then, be sure to check out NLFM Episode 11 for a taste of the stunning music of FLUX if you haven't already — and even if you have, go on, do it again.

Interesting that it's basically a sequel to BEAT. Not what I thought they would end the series with.
Mid-level checkpoints? Good. Maybe I'll actually stand a chance of beating it unlike the game it's based after.

As for gameplay, well I enjoyed BEAT so I will likely enjoy this. I'm liking the idea of beats you have to avoid, though it doesn't look like there's a whole lot of new outside of some new powerups and the checkpoints. Oh well, this game will still be amazing.
I was disappointed when I found out that it's basically Bit Trip Beat 2 (even though the first one is onf my favorite games this gen, I was still hoping for something more original), but that trailer looks incredibly slick, I must say.
It think when they say it's gonna be easier is that I'm only gonna pull a few hairs out this time.
It's slightly dissapointing that it's just bit. trip beat 2 but this still looks like an awesome game.
I'm sure it's great...but I think this might be the first Bit.Trip game I don't rush home to download.
I don't know. Maybe down the line or something...but Beat is my most-replayed entry in the Bit.Trip series, and that trailer just makes it look like another few levels to tack onto the end of it.
We'll see. I'll get it. I'm sure I'll love it. But this is the only time I haven't felt particular urgency to play it.
It just seems like Bit.Trip Beat: Special Edition but with a different name.
I recently finished Beat, so I'm up for a challenge.
I haven't bought any other Bit Trip games, so I might not get this right away.
Hmm. One thing that looks harder is that it's lacking the colors of the bits which told you what type of pattern to expect in Beat.
Also, nice touch in saying "home" as he returns to the same point of the first level. It's been pointed out before, but it's worth repeating.

Even though it looks like another bit trip beat, it still has some new elements that makes it look like a new game, and it looks fun !

I really feel a bit let down that they are finishing with what is essentially BEAT with a new paint job. I felt that the first 3 BT games were nothing special and even quite bad in VOID's case. Things definitely improved with RUNNER and FATE and I thought that the series would end strong after those. I AM.......disappointed.
@bboy2970 Although I don't agree that the first 3 Bit Trip games were low quality and/or bad, I didn't find them anywhere as amazingly enjoyable as Runner and Fate. I adore Fate! I can play that game for hours!
So, I am also a bit disappointed (pun not intended).
A bit disappointed, but not surprised given the description in the beat manual about everything comes from something and returns to something (or something). It has a very circular theme. I have a lot to beat before this, but I really enjoy this style of game. I'll surely download it.
@RantingThespian: I think you mis understood me. I found BEAT and CORE to be good, just not the masterpieces NL seemed to think they were. The only BT game I thought was truly quite poor was VOID. The gameplay was just very uncreative and boring. Anyway, I'll still buy this even though I didn't love BEAT. What can I say, I'm a sucker for owning a full series of anything
I'm more disappointed than the others here, probably for these two reasons:
1. I expected the series finale to be epic and cool and stuff, not an easy version of BEAT
2. Beat is my second least favourite game from the series

BEAT was great, I don't mind more. I expect FLUX to be wonderfully difficult. But I also can't see how anyone could get really hyped about this.
However, one question: why is it only 2P coop when BEAT was 4P? Is there something new that prevents 4 players from playing together?
Well, I didn't get Beat, so I'll probably scoop this one up instead first. Looks great.
They end the series with this? Why? Did the "new idea guy" quit so they decided to just re-do an earlier game? This is not "coming full circle" or whatever spin they'll try to put on it. Very disappointing.
Looks awesome. I wish I could try out this series as the gameplay looks very original (and freakin' hard too!).
I like beat a lot and its a cool idea to finish the series in the style in started. However, this will be the first bit.trip game I don't buy soon after its release. Largely because I still haven't beaten any bit.trip games. It didn't matter before since each game was so different. Since this is a sequel a game I didn't finish I'll wait til I'm able to finish beat to try this one.
to people complaining that we're not getting a real finale new game for the series, just consider Lilt Line that final game, I mean it totally could have the Bit.Trip. title if you ask me and its unique as well. As for this, I loved beat, its definitely my favorite of the 5, so more of that with new components sounds sweet to me!
Am I the only one whimpering in fear after watching that trailer? Looks like the only reason it's similar to BEAT is to simulate Commander Video's life flashing before his eyes. Thinking of it in that context while reading a bunch of complaints about it being a rehash is kind of surreal. Don't you love metaphors?

All of them are good but void is my least favorite. I was hoping for something totally new and unique with flux but a direct sequel to Beat will do.
I'd like to add that I have beaten every Bit Trip game (even got all the gold on Runner not including bonus levels) And I think Fate was the easiest one. I'm honestly really hoping that Flux is more challenging then Beat was. For once, I'd like them to make a game that I can't complete

The first one got plenty hard for me, this looks like torture!
With how wowed I was when I first played BEAT, I really have no doubts about getting this one. I've played only BEAT and VOID, and I didn't like VOID much.
Considering how with every release they try to change it up, I am still disappointed that the game is just a reversed BEAT. I just bought RUNNER, which I must say is among my Top 3 in WiiWare, and the FATE demo seemed pretty cool.
I still think that they should've gone with a rhythm-based RPG of some sort, however...
Hmmmm, finish Bit.Trip Flux in one sitting? I've never been able to finish any Bit.Trip game, let alone think about beating one in a single sitting I guess that means it might be a tad easier than the other Bit.Trip games, even though the video doesn't make it look any easier but I guess checkpoints help.
