Splatoon is a weekly - even daily - treat for plenty of Wii U owners, and with its glut of items, weapons and maps there's plenty on offer. It turns out there's also a neat resource for viewing online rankings alongside others on your Friend List, statistics on weapon usage and gear, and even the next few cycles of available maps in Regular and Ranked battles.
The only hitch is that it's only available in Japanese right now, but Siliconera posted a neat guide over the weekend to help us all use it. The first step is to log in with your Nintendo Network ID on this web page; below is an image and breakdown, via Siliconera, that explains the information that's available to you.
- Friend List
- this feature lets you check out your friends and also schedule play dates with those on your friend list. Since it's in Japanese, it might be easier to use other means to gather your buddies to get your inking on.
- Ranking
- we get to see your average score of the week for Regular Battle and Ranked Battle. The score resets every Sunday at 00:00 JPT, and it is calculated by wins X win % X 10. You can also click on your friends' Mii to check out more information on them as well.
- Equipment
- In addition to being able to see your gear, last weapon used, rank, and ranking, there's an interesting part that shows all the points you've accumulated with each weapon used thus far.
- Stage Information
- this is another useful feature that lets you see the schedule of upcoming maps. While it is in Japanese, it provides the main images for each map for both Regular and Ranked matches. For reference, "ガチヤグラ" is Japanese for "Tower Control" and "ガチエリア" is for "Splat Zones," which you can see indicated under ルール "Rule" for each Ranked Battle section.
It all works a charm, and is a neat resource for all you Splatoon addicts.
Thanks to all that sent this in.

Neat
Awesome! Now I can check the stage schedule. I can't stand Moray Towers anymore.
Why are the first 2 symbles for splat zones and tower control the exact same? This is why I'll never ever understand the Japanese language. Not that mines much better.
Checked it out a few days ago. It's a fun extra for those into stats, leader boards in the friend sense, and planning. I maybe unranked in ranked battles (which they list as C- ) but I'm 853 in regular battles. Now if only they also keep track of splats
Since it's a .net site and our NNID works, I can expect a english friendly version is right around the corner.
@Spoony_Tech Probably because it's not a direct translation.
grumble grumble Japanese grumble grumble
I don't understand why nobody inside of Nintendo has translated this into English yet, the entire back end is already there and functioning, US NNIDs have been working on that website for at least 3 days. Seriously Nintendo just translate it already.
Thanks to NL for running with it, maybe the more people who know about it the better chance we have of getting it overseas. I'm not usually a big supporter of things like Operation Rainfall, it takes a lot of money and man hours to translate a game that maybe won't even sell, but this is about a 3 page website, how hard can that be, it already works, it just needs about 12 words trankated. At the very least stick some Japanese words on there instead of relying so heavily on graphics so Google can do it, how freaking hard can that be.
And while I'm venting - Callie and Marie need to tell us what mode is running in ranked battles BEFORE they tell us the stages, it doesn't do us any good to know what the stages are if we don't know the mode, splat zone and tower control are very different. And if the rotate in Rainmaker that will make not knowing even worse.
I really don't think asking for those 2 little things is asking for too much. It's a great game, everyone should play, but it's the tiny little things which seem like they should already be done which irks me.
I've been using splatoon.ink for checking the current maps and modes, information has been mostly correct so far.
@Spoony_Tech The Google translation looked something like galegaria and galemavhia so those first 2 symbols are probably for the g and a. Didn't Jari cover that in the forum already, he's usually very thorough?
Should the equipment stats display all weapons you've used? If so looks like I've only used 9 weapons. If I ever get to play the game again I can fix that (accursed "the connection is unstable" problem happening during matches and which nothing on my end can fix and only started happening with the v2.0.0 patch).
@Spoony_Tech Those symbols are ガチ (gachi). A quick search finds:
japanese-slang.blogspot.com/2011/05/gachi.html
Since the mode names translate literally to gachi area and gachi scaffold I guess gachi adds that bit excitement. The HTML of the Splatoon page itself lists it as earnest as well.
@rferrari24 yeah Moray Towers is bad. I wouldn't mind if they canned it completely.
Looks great, but they could really do with making a translated version.
@Spoony_Tech ガチ (Gachi) can be used as a prefix and it roughly translates to ''super'' or ''great''. Ranked Battles are also called ガチマッチ (Gachimatchi), ''super match'' or something along the lines of that.
Splat Zones are called ガチエリア (Gachieria [ga-chi-e-ri-a]), エリア (Eria) is a direct translation of ''area'', so that makes sense. I assume that the other one translates to something along the lines of ''tower'', but that's not important, just remember one and you'll know the other mode as well.
Why does no one like Moray towers? I think it's pretty fun. They should put in some of the ink sky lines to traverse a little easier. The ones like cables you swim through in squid form from single player.
I love Chrome auto-translate. "By the stage information to reference, consider the weapons and strategy!" "The win in the battle, it will raise the rankings!" Sounds like Jelonzo XD
@Zach777 Moray Towers is one of my favourite stages. It would be pretty awesome to see more single xampaign features brought into online modes
@Zach777 I like moray towers, it's one of my favourite courses
@Zach777 I like that it's such a different experience than the other maps, but there's not really much to it strategy wise. If we were able to rotate through all the maps it would be a nice change of pace. It can just get a little repetitive when you're playing it over and over.
Ive been wanting stats in Splatoon for a while so this will do.
why can't this just be in the game as "Squidtistics". Nintendo being Nintendo I guess
@shigulicious
Yeah. It's a unique stage, but I avoid playing there. I can't see any of my opponents and get splatted from above all the time. It's snipers' paradise too because they can see the entire map.
@wisdomsprince because it's helpful to be able to see the stats while your away from the game.
@shigulicious
Sorry to hear you don't enjoy the stage, but I have to disagree. Moray Towers isn't bad. You just have to learn its tricks. For one, you don't have to limit yourself to jumping down at the ends of the rows. As long as your ink is already down, you can jump in squid form from the center of a row to a lower row. And there are at least 3 alternate ways to infiltrate the enemy lanes.
I've been having more & more fun on that stage. I remember a really good game where I had run into an ememy squid & we were at a stalemate. So I layed a mine in the corner, swam back up the ramp, jumped from the higher lane to the lower one, shooting at the ground as I fell. The other squid panicked & ran right in to my mine! :~)
P.S. I tend to go with speed perks for running & swimming.
Yeah, Gachi is kind of like Super. Here it more or less mean, "the real deal". So more serious battles. The opposite of casual. It will also lead to a great pun for the upcoming Rainmaker mode. In Japanese it will be called Gachi-hoko, which is a play on the word Sachihoko. Sachihoko are mystical fish that are said to cause rain and can save important buildings from burning down. The rain maker it's self is a Sachihoko fish.

That website is awesome! Hopefully it will come in English soon.
@Taun It's nice to see that some people are enjoy that stage and I respect your opinion on it. I think it could use a makeover. Adding catwalks that span across to the opposite side of the map would add some strategy and even more sense of height on the map. I just feel that the current layout is too basic.
Holy crap. I haven't played since the last Splatfest, so why did my rank go down from A- 30 to A- 23? Does it automatically go down if you don't maintain it? o.O
@Zach777 It's not all hate for Moray Towers - It's one of my more favourite maps
Yeah I like Moray Towers, too. Don't get why some people hate it so much. It's probably my second-favourite map behind Saltspray Rig (especially for Splat Zones). I dislike Camp Triggerfish way more, because I always get lost on that map. But maybe that's because I haven't played it that much yet (as was the case for Kelp Dome before when It was still new to me). But the maps I dislike the most are Blackbelly Skatepark (played that one too often) and Walleye Warehouse (too narrow). Before, I also didn't like Port Mackerel because it has two Splatzones, but then I had some really great battles on that map, so now I don't dislike it that much anymore. Bluefin Depot is also a map that I haven't played that much and therefore haven't fully explored yet.
It would really great if Nintendo would change the rotation. I almost exclusively play at evening and night and it's getting redundant. Tower Control is always between 20 and midnight, so if I want to play Splat Zones I either have to play earlier or after midnight. It would be nice if that would change every other day. Also, it seems like most of the time (when I play), the same maps are in rotation.
