Developer and publisher Giants Software has announced Farming Simulator Kids for the Nintendo Switch, offering a more child-friendly, accesible take on its long-running Farming Simulator franchise.
Switching out text for more audiovisual cues, Farming Simulator Kids will require players to harvest crops, care for a variety of different animals, and make use of numerous John Deer-manufactured vehicles. Mini-games will break up the gameplay nicely, so kids will be able to hop in and out as they please.
We're keen on the cute aesthetics with this one, but we'd admittedly like to see some more gameplay footage. Hopefully Giants Software will release more information in the coming weeks and months.
Here's a look at the key features:
- Child-Friendly Graphics, Music & Sound Effects
- Character Creator with Lots of Styles & Possibilities
- Multiple Locations to Explore: Farm, Barn, Market & More
- 10+ Crops to Plant & Harvest, 75+ Food Items, 100+ Objects & Other Items
- Vehicles & Tools by John Deere, the World’s Largest Agricultural Brand
- Domestic & Wild Animals to Befriend and Care for
- Loveable Characters and Animals to Meet
- Activities like Field Tasks, Driving Vehicles, Gardening & Making Sandwiches
- Achievement System & Video Creator
Farming Simulator Kids is launching on the Nintendo Switch in Spring 2023.

Wait, the graphic will be 2D style?
@Anti-Matter I thought you might be here
I came to alert Anti-Matter. I should have known.
@Anti-Matter Looks like it will be.
Wasn't there a farming Simulator game on the 3ds a while back~ 🤔 Pretty sure because remember playing it or something very similar back then. Might look into this game but pretty satisfied with the story of seasons games on switch. 🤷♀️✌️
Happy Gaming! (^_^)
ah that's a cute idea, took them long enough to figure out they could sell a version for kids
@Barbiegurl777 yes the 3DS had three farming simulator games, but they where the regular mobile phone versions, not any sort of special "for kids" edition.
As an adult player, I need this.
So it looks like clicker game in 2d ? Make something for kids in normal Farming Simulator ( I mean 3d ) style !!!
As a person that grew up in a rural area, where being a farmer was considered as profitable as being a doctor or lawyer I could see this getting some sales in certain areas.
Oh come on! That's the wrong direction.
What I asked for is a version of Farming Simulator with simplified, maybe cartoonish graphics for a better drawing distance and better performance overall. But in 3D and with most of the features the normal version has to offer. Plus multiplayer via local wireless connection. That would be awesome!
@Tisteg80 This is meant for toddlers and other young children, its not really meant to be a new direction for their Switch versions.
What a treat, a farming simulator suitable to younger audiences as well! This has never been done before!
@Eel
Yeah I realized that pretty quickly back then. Maybe if they put a demo for this game in the eshop. I'll dl the demo & try it. Just very skeptical after the 3ds version. On one hand I liked the 3ds version but remembered getting bored with it a little to quickly. Ironically at the time did want to like the game I guess just not enough to hold my interest. Maybe it's the story lines with harvest moon & story of seasons why I like those types of farming games~ 🤷♀️✌️🤣
Happy Gaming! (^_^)
@Barbiegurl777 I assure you this and the regular versions of the game will only share the farming theme and John Deere license.
I would expect this one to be more like a soundboard with basic early learning activities and cute animations, whereas the regular games are actual farming simulations where you use heavy farming machinery.
I suppose neither would be the kind of story-driven experience you want.
@Eel
I'll check the game out in the eshop later~ 🤷♀️✌️
Happy Gaming! (^_^)
