This is my most wanted wiiware game right now.

This game screeeeams "ONLINE PLAY" but I doubt it. Nintendo still doesn't have a good grasp on what that is or why it's so important...

I loved the original game. It's nothing like a final fantasy game. It was just a coop dungeon crawler.

I hate Final Fantasy games with a passion. Mainly because of the fans. But this looks awesome, and who knows, maybe this will get me interested in the series?

To be fair Crystal Chronicles bears little relation to Final Fantasy (except name to boost sales). From the sounds of GDC they took out the RPG battling parts (even had a full battle system developed) as they didn't fit with the rest of the game. It is a good read and explains why such a game is possible for Wii Ware launch (I liked the part about how older programmers were used as they were more used to tight memory restrictions)

Sounds like it is simulation all the way now. The dungeon parts sound like would play out like the deployable robots in Megaman X: Command Mission (basically you formed a party, sent it somewhere, come back later on and hear how they got on)

I loved FFCC for GC! To truly appreciate, you have to let the turn based system go, and finish this game to completion. Beautiful graphics, great gameplay, great cut-scenes, and I don't expect this game to be any different. I can't wait!!!!

I'm getting the same vibe too PrizePig. I also play Final Fantasy game for the storyline and this one doesn't look like it has much of one. Or at least nothing compared to the actual FF series.

I'm not into FF but I'm considering getting this as i do like Country Building simulators, so when it's released, I'll check the reviews for it to see if it's worth the points

I can't tell if it looks good or not. Microtransactions and no real combat on one hand, but Final Fantasy on the other. I'll wait for the reviews on this one.

What's this game all about?

I'm really looking forward to this as well. And I hope it will reach Europe in close proximity to the release of Wiiware.

I think this will be one of the best launch Wii Ware Titles on the US shores. The only downfall of this game is that it is one of those Pay to Play which means to get the full experience you must buy downloadable content to get the full enjoyment of the game. So far in Japan it comes to about 2900 wii points to get the full experience unless they create more stuff along the road.

Expensive, but it is at the top of my list, along wih Dr. Mario ,Pokemon Ranch, and Defend Your Castle. 4000 Wii Points in total.

I dont think you can really expect the standard FF game out of this one, first off the game isnt trying to be a standard FF game. My enterpratation of the game is this, if you like games like harvest moon(snes) and other sim style of games then this game would be good for you, but if not then i would do my research before purchasing. Me personally, I'm going to get it.

This game seems to be the best wii-ware game even if it costs a lot! Also being able to buy houses for your town and clothes for your character with wii points is a awesome idea!

Its one week from the release of WiiWare and I only have 2000 Wii Points currently, and I'll be going to my Grandpearents for the summer where I can't access the internet on my Wii so I'm having a hard time deciding if I should get this and Defend Your Castle or Dr. Mario and something else. Those are all grwat looking games. Dr Mario and DYC are best as multiplayer games, so if you dont have another controller or friends who do, I'd stick with this, unless you dont like city builders (Sim City) with a fantasy vibe. This game is said to be 10-12 hrs long before DLC, so...there's as much help as I can give. Keep in mind I have not yet played any of these, but certainly will play 1-2 on May 12th! Think I need another Wii points card...

Everyone keep in mind that this is nothing what final fantasy is really like. Take it from someone who is a HUGE final fantasy fan! I wouldn't ever consider this game to be a spin-off! Square-Enix is just using the name "Final Fantasy" to get people to buy it.(to promote it) I guess so it will catch peoples eyes. TRUST ME if you do not like this game then that does not mean that you won't like any other Final Fantasy game. Final Fantasy games are RPG's (not sims games) that have EXCELLENT storyline and graphics. The battle systems are different in each one. They might as well just called this game "My Life as King" instead of tagging the Final Fantasy part on it.

Day 1 purchase for me! I got my Wii Points all ready too. 1500 for the game and 500 for extras I might want.

While I dont like the way this game does DLC per se, I appreciate that it opens that door for otehr titles...who wouldn't love new levels for Mario, LostWind, new dungeons in Zelda, tracks in Mario Kart, or items/trophies/stage/chars in brawl! Some of these wont happen, but its still cool.

LW is only 3 hours long, and I haven't been too interested in it, but I don't want to just throw down $15 for FF:CC because there aren't any other good alternatives for the time being. Then again, this has been the only game that I've actually been remotely interested in...

Dungeon Pack adds 11 dungeons to the game; clearing these raises the limit on weapon, armor, item shops, taverns, parks, gaming halls and houses.
Triple Race Pack adds dungeons which after completing allow you to build the Lilty Hut, Selkie Den and Yuke Shack, which in turn adds warriors, thieves, and mages (You can only purchase this Triple Pack if you didn't purchase the individual Lilty, Selkie, & Yuke Add Ons)
Luxurious House adds 3 dungeons which after clearing alows you to build these houses which greatly increases you income
Sacred Shrine adds 3 dungeons which after clearing allows you to build shrines which temporarily boost adventure stats.
The 2 Outfit add ons are just costume changes.
I just purchased the Dungeon Pack, Triple Pack, and Lux House and it says that the features can be carried over to new games once unlocked, I'm not sure if that means the features wont carry over to previous saved games or not.
I've played the game for 30 minutes...the first 2 days of the game are basically tutorials. Game play is simple, you just run and and talk to ppl, send ppl out to explore dungeons and they come back w/ experience and resources for you to build more. It costs money to send them out to explore and to commission additional explorers, you get money each day from daily taxes. I didn't notice any camera issues or any other problems. Good luck to whoever purchases this game.

i went ahead and bought it today. i wanted to wait for some reviews to show up here, but i've been looking forward to it for too long and couldn't wait. i like the idea of being able to build your kingdom. i've always like building sims.

anyway, i've only played through the first day. i've got a couple friends over and don't wanna sit there and make 'em watch me play by myself, ya know. i'm not sure how good i'd be at a "review" but if i'll be sure to through some opinions in here once i got some real time on it.

Extra downloadable content for sale? Haha, soon enough we'll be paying the same price as a normal Wii game.

@rkish I've been looking at/reading/thinking about getting FF, and to me the only DLC that would make sense to purchase as of "right now" would probably be the dungeon pack, as most others seem to be "cosmetic."

From reading the descriptions of the download content this content at least seems to have one main purpose. Make the game easier.

Specialised classes are will obviously do better in specialist situations when compared to all-round humans.
The houses that make more money will help. The dungeons will help get more upgrades (able to bulid more stuff) and the shines give stat boosts.

I still feel the races are a bit of a sell-out but I'm willing to see how playable the game is without DLC.

Sadly, I loved Selkies from the DS FF:CC, so I may spend an extra 300 points for the Selkie pack and possibly the king's pirate clothes too... I guess the DLC is made for morons like me.

Sucks my wii got stolen 2 days before wiiware was released, damn. This game looks good, you guys are actually my first kind of sourse for this game. i never even knew you build stuff. but what's the point in building stuff, do new people com to your kingdom or something?

Is this like Actraiser on the SNES, except that it's SimCity(Lite)+RPG instead of SimCity(lite)+Action sequences?

This seriously looks like Actraiser where you can build to a point, and building increases your ability/stats for combat...and then you combat so you can do more with your cities and areas to advance them further.

Is that what FF:CC is because I've waited 18years for another game like Actraiser to pop up and I'll be all over this (while hating such a game so smart didn't have a 'keep-able' copy being a damn virtual download.)

Well the days in the game go by really quickly, and I'm already on the 32nd day. I wasn't planning on playing that much today, but it just became so addictive! On this site I'd easily rate this game a 5/5 from what I've played so far. It's one of those hate it/love it kind of games though. I've never owned a simulation game before, so it took a little while for me to grow to like that aspect. I really enjoy the RPG elements that were thrown in, because it adds a whole new level to the way the game plays out. There's a balance of sending out warriors, thieves, etc. and building up your kingdom using a limited supply of resources. If you are at all interested in this game, I'd recommend it. I haven't bought any of the expansion packs yet, but I think I might buy one or two depending on the cost and item.

I started playing this and I was like "wow this is stupid..." now it's 3AM... and I bought all the DLC. O.o I love how you can manage the characters and grow armies to do your bidding yet you don't have to lift a finger It's pretty relaxing and very rewarding. Pirate king costume is worth the dollar!

How can you buy the DLC? In the game or in the Shop Channel?

Yeah, I'm eager for the Review (it's too bad I missed the post about being able to write reviews for the site. MY PC was down for the longest time and I would've wholeheartedly taken up the opportunity ). Oh well.

Is there enough Replay Value/longevity to be worth 1500 Points? I won't be going for DLC as it seems a bit of a waste, imo. I'd rather save up for something else.

Does anyone know how to form parties? I've got a few white mages now, but they need to be teamed up with others, obviously. But everyone's "party affiliation" is just themselves, and I can't find any information either online or in the game itself on how to form parties.

...And now that I'm into Chapter 3, one of my assistants has let me know that "Taverns provide adventurers a place to form parties". So you have to build a tavern first.

If you want a good, quick review, check out comment #60. I agree wholeheartedly, down to the "hate it/love it" part. There are things that are slightly annoying, usually revolving around a lack of information, but nothing serious enough to detract from the enjoyment of the game as a whole. Plus it has that addicting "one more day" feeling.

69, Thanks for the "feedback." It truly is an addictive game. You're right about that "one more day feeling!" I tried not to play as much today, but I still found myself playing for at least an hour or two. (which is a lot considering I don't play games nearly as much as I used to)

Oh, Masuyo, what has been the most rewarding add-on? I'm not interested in the Pirate costume, but are there any "must haves?"

Does it have an interesting story or boss fights?

@Ryan Nicholas: The "Pay to Play" feature just means that you have to pay for DLC if you choose to buy it. There is no wi-fi built in with this game except for just DLC and thats about it. If you read up at comments 47 and 50 a user has explained the DLC.

@CopyofCopyX: I don't have the game but as far from what I heard this game isn't really like a Final Fantasy game. It is more of a Sim game where you build your own kingdom.

Does it matter when you by the DLC f? I mean, does it have to be bought before you start the game or can it be bought at any time during the game?

You can buy it after you bought the game either on the main menu or on the throne room menu.

There is a story, and although I've beaten it, there seems like there will be an ending. The story is pretty lightweight, it just involves something with your father, who was the previous ruler of the area, and something called the "Dark Lord". The game is broken up into chapters, but it's not like you have a list of stuff to do, or a big task, to get to the next chapter. It's more like you're playing, you've laid down about 12 houses, you've finally built a training hall, etc, and suddenly the next day you play there is a cut scene. It's a nice little break from the game to let you know you've made significant progress.

I have been playing this game for 2 days,and it is great! This is the deepest downloadable game that I have ever played yet. I'm not even a Final Fantasy fan but this is a great country building simulator.

You can buy the game and play it for as long as you like without downloadable content. The downloadable content just adds extra things to the game. But it's entirely optional.

Hurry up with that review guys, I'm still waiting to hear some comprehensive feedback before I assign this much money and memory to a WiiWare game.

Pay-to-Play = I wouldn't bother with most if not all of the DLC. It's ridiculous what the DLC entails for some of them, especially since some of it already is hidden away in the game. >_>

I figured it out after I posted but now I have a new question...I need 2 Thingie Spheres to upgrade my castle for the 2nd time, but I have 1 and it won't give me another no matter how many times I fill the gauge. I am in Chapter 2 (with 31 days lol, I forgot to kill the Goblins and did every other dungeon first!)

Many have asked me if the game has unlimited levels and I said I dunno but I think it may. Does anyone know when the game ends? If so, I don't want to reach that point, anyway.

I am so pissed. In the least 5 days, my adventurers havent accomplished squat. They can't beat a Lv.13 boss even though they are 14-19 and they fail every time at the "get material for (insert store)" What am I doing wrong? I dotn have any white mages. Do I need them that badly? Yaaargh! wishes there was a guillotine to punish!

I'm replying to most of your posts.

Although some bosses and missions look easy, they arn't as easy as they look. I had to level my guy up to level 18 to get a material from a level 2 temple. If you want to help your adventures, maybe raise their pay, move them to a different job, try more easier behests, talk to them every day, raise their morale every day, and such. The happier the kingdom, the happier your people. Or maybe give them a holiday, then they can rest and do whatever. And when your adventuers are about to sign up for a behest, if they have a blue sad face over top of them, always tell them to go rest, they'll do better the next day.

Also I'm trying to get three morale spheres, but i can only get two, and I have no Idea how I got another one.

Now that I have all the jobs and taverns sothey can be in parties, I beat 4 dungeons in a row. My people are now Lv.14-26 (I have 16 adventurerers.)
For everyone stuck on getting a higher morale sphere max, build bakeries or emporiums. If you can't, look at the rewards for beating future dungeons. I'm this close to getting my Emporium, which is some kinda shop. Each raises max M.S. by 1.

I just LOVE this game!!!

But yeah, I'm looking to increase my Morale sphere max also.

This game is simply AWESOME and I'm SO SO glad I gave it a chance. And I thank my sib so much for coaxing me to get it!!!

Got my emporium, got awesome chars, so I am kicking butt. This is a MUST-HAVE game for anyone who likes RPGs! I have put about 8 hrs in and am only on Chapter IV!

Well if you read around then you would find that nintendo denied that statement. They said the only restrictions are:
1)No customer data retrevial
2)No in-game ads
3)One Game Per Month
and thats all it they aren't even restricting AO games according to what i get.

They may not have said "No AO", but they would never allow one. Don't forget that it's all up to Nintendo, release dates and what gets published. There's never been an AO on N64 or GCn or Wii or even PS2 and XBox. AO won't happen on Wiiware. And why should it? M is good enough.

The last boss has taken me over an hour so far! I have everything lvled up! Advice? How long did it take you guys?

it took my 5-10 days, and i wasn't even trying hard. but i spent 70 days leveling up and funding.

Last boss took me 25 days after i beat every other dungeon! (thats like 2.5 hrs!) Anyone remember their rank? I had C, S, and SS for an overall A!!

i had a D for amount of days(wasted 70 days cause i did not want my town to go away once i was done) then i got an S, then ?(i forgot), then overall was B.

This sounds interesting, not to mention incredibly robust for a Wiiware title. Too bad I was never really interested in sims, except Animal Crossing, plus, I have a strict embargo on any game with both "Final" and "Fantasy" in its title. That price tag ain't exactly reeling me in, either. Oh well, I guess I'll have to pass on this one, but otherwise I'd give it a YES (numbers are so arbitrary).

This game is addictive, but frustrating after a while. Its so addiciting that i got to day 93 in around 4 hours at 2 in the morning..."Brawl- my anti-drug". Lol It is worth the purchase even with the P2P content, which at most goes up to 1500 (or 1700, idk) points.

The original Simcity is on the VC, but they probably won't make a WiiWare version. Theres one for the DS that was released either last year or before.

Now that I think about it, I heard they were Making a Wii disc Simcity. I better remember to get that one when it comes out.

Well, now you have reason to go back - new DLC in the US. Castle Upgrade, Eternity Tower, Library, Chime's Summer Outfit. There's an update you need to get first, though.

And a warning, they say the dungeon that lets you build a Library is level 100 with a life bar boss on Hard.

Man, Terranigma, that looks really cool...if you like Final Fantasy. I myself am not a fan, though I am considering this one, as it seems like an interesting and unique Sim game. I'm not too sure whether I should get it though, because I don't take to Sims too well - I haven't played any Animal Crossing game in years, and I haven't even touched the Simcity and Creature Creator Demos I got, and I really don't want another game that's just going to wind up taking up space on my SD card.

I was never a fan of sims either, but I got and beat this and enjoyed it considerably.

It really doesn't matter if I enjoy it. In fact, I love sims when I'm playing them, I just can't get my self to play them again. It requires a lot of time and dedication, and I not sure if I'm willing to commit that much of my life to a single game. Thanks for trying though, and it's nice to hear you enjoyed it. You might want to consider Animal Crossing or Simcity, but then again, MLAAK is basically a combination of both, and each individually might not hold your interest for too long. It really depends on what you liked most about MLAAK.

Otherwise, your life will have to be devoid of crystalline chronicles, if you are so unwilling to try something new.

How about FFCC: crystal bearers which sounds brill but do u think it would be better than all the other VC FF games and there much cheaper as well and u don't have to dock and then undock games and play them as a channel, which leads me to this: How come Nintendo didn't let place all the games into a disc reader and choose the 1 u wanted 2 play? Be much simpler than opening boxes all the time.

Yes, actually, I've read several complaints about repetitiveness of the game, so that probably wouldn't be very appealing. Of course, DYC was also repetitive, but it was still very addicting, and so is this, I've heard.

If you have the DS, I'd imagine you already have the GCN one too, so no point in recommending that. In the off chance that you don't, and you have a few friends and some link cables, I highly recommend it. I almost got it myself, but it was just outside my budget.

this game seem cool but is it a real rpg? it seems like sim city or somthing.

It is a sim. Not sure why it says RPG in the overview, aside from the adventurers you send, there's not much RPGy about it.

Beat it once just to get my luxurious houses DLC then started again on hard difficulty. I like to build "communities" - there's one of each job with four houses near the corresponding training facility. Disappointed that you don't have unlimited luxurious houses as long as you haven't reached your house limit. I expected more from my DLC. Also, they are not the most profitable home to have - four 1X1 large houses bring in 10 more Gil than a single luxurious house. Huh.

Its an addictive game though. The layout is perfect. Send adventurers out, save and then find out how adventurers did the next day. I kept playing just because I wanted to see how they did and if they accomplished any objectives. The 11 extra dungeons DLC helped too. But I can't help but think there should be more to the game. There is a point in the game where you feel like you've pretty much done everything and don't even bother wandering about during the day - just sending your adventurers off then end the day.

This game is very addictive as many people have pointed out. I bought the race pack and was pleased by the increased character choices. The game is not without fault. I fell asleep while playing several times waiting for the day to pass. I accidentally called CHime many times because the remote was to sensitive. There was to much lack of control of the missions the characters went on. Often the characters I wanted to go on specific quests lined up for the other posted quest. One play through was enough. After one full game , I had huge amounts of cash but little to spend it on. I started and several new games and was quickly bored.

I hope we get another FF game with ACTION.

This game is great. Of course, after a while you'll feel like you've done everything you can and get bored, but you'll really enjoy it until then. If you're looking for a good action game or a classic RPG, you'll probably be dissapointed. Of course, it's still a great game, so don't let that stop you from getting it.

This is still the most addictive WiiWare game of all. (Played it more than 100 hours)
I have beaten it 2 times already on hard and very hard without DLC,
and I will beat it a third time now that I finally came around to get all DLC.

World of Goo comes in a close second place though, but that's a completely different game.

I saw a comment about all the wii points needed for this game... Do you recommend I buy all the extra content at once before I start playing? Or should I buy as I play... There is also a Life as a Dark Lord game out there, which one is better?
