Does nintendolife attend comic cons or video game conventions or some other event we pay to get in?
It would be great to meet up and talk about our favourite games and meet the nl staff instead of just seeing them on youtube. (I'd love a photo with Felix)
We could bring our switches (or other handhelds) to play with each other and add each other and I'd love a nintendolife t shirt or other merchandise.
Who knows? Maybe lifelong friendships/partners are waiting to be made...
As a team we don't do so much of this these days. We don't have any plans for UK events yet this year, but as Gemma has said we'll certainly post about it if we do.
Hmm I don’t know If I would ever want to meet up with anyone from this forum or any other forum. People online are not always who or what they say they are.

@Atomic77 it can't be that bad and if you don't like them in real life, you can stop talking to them on here.
It'd be completely safe at a public venue with security checks.

I mean... almost just as true in person. Literally all you know about someone is their physical appearance unless you get to know them. At least with people here you know some mutual interests.
meetups at conventions are pretty much just a bunch of random people in a public setting with similar interests. And if you know their name here, you at least have some conversation starters.
This is actually a great idea for a thread more so for the purposes of meeting up with other NL users. I can't see NL taking up a spot at an exhibition, because what would they be selling/presenting, exactly? Unless perhaps they're there to present historical curiosities, tournaments, panel discussions, or the like.
I don't usually frequent comic conventions though. I attended two conventions in 2018 on behalf of somebody I know as a favour (who wanted some exposure for his comics); the first in Canberra, the next in Sydney (where I am from), but I had never attended any conventions prior or since.
At the Canberra convention, there was a Mario Kart 8 tournament, and I came first in the first race, but absolutely tanked it in the races that followed. I had also seen a Virtual Boy for the first time, which was really cool, and there were some PCs/consoles set up with classic games, including a personal favourite, Commander Keen (I think it was episode 4). And I sampled PS VR as well.
Nintendo attended the Sydney exhibition, where they were showcasing a few yet-to-be-released games, including Smash Bros. Ultimate, Diablo 3, and Super Mario Party (which I briefly sampled). They also had a bunch of Switches set up specifically for Fortnite... yawn.
I had also taken my 3DS with me strictly for StreetPass purposes, and the number of hits was... underwhelming, to say the least. And that was the last time I've taken my 3DS out of the house. Can't say I didn't try though.

I think CB is exaggerating. From my point of view, he has been a perfect gentleman here over the years, and the one person I would name my friend via the internet.
His one crime (if you’d call it that) is being honest in his opinions. But candor is a quality I appreciate in people and other furry sentient beings. 😁
On topic: I would love a meet up with some of the kind regulars here, if the opportunity ever arose. Though being in the Northeast USA puts me half a hemisphere away from the majority of you, I imagine.

Downside of internet forums is that the people you get along with best could be from anywhere, and in my case I’d need to book a few plane tickets to get them over to the UK from the US lmao. Just fast travel smh

Persona 4 Golden
Dragon Quest XI S

Xenoblade Chronicles 2
I've not met anyone from on here but I've been to a fair few other forum meetups over the years and they've generally gone quite well. We all got along, everyone had plenty to talk about and the edgy and fake people didn't turn up.
We certainly are a lot more spread out than the ones where the people met up though.

[Sighs appreciatively] Thank you, my good Teksetter 💙
I look forward to seeing your posts, and returning the positivity you give us here. I'm glad that gaming and NL are helping to take the edge off things, however much!
@CharlieZee I viscerally dislike trolling, so, no, not guilty of that. I have allowed my temper to escape me at times here, though, which I regret. And I still need to show "less teeth, more fur" when communicating online - even though I like a large number of people here, I don't think my words are always read that way. I've been told often enough by friends that my tone seems much harder in text messages than I actually intend, so I have to be vigilant. This is hardly uncommon, I know, but... still a problem.
In any case, I actually agree with Teksetter about meet-ups, in spite of my trepidation. Aside from my run-ins with the mods here (who seem to watch my words like hawks), and the people that simply don't like me/furballs, there's always a risk when meeting people that way. I mean, there is even a possibility - infinitesimally remote - that Teksetter is actually an axe murderer who wants to hang my pelt on her wall, below her other trophies, in her secret stealth off-grid cabin in the Berkshires. ... ... But I strongly doubt it.
Here in the Northeast of N. America, there is a fabled location called Funspot which would be a very logical location for a meeting of folk in this region. (Disclaimer: if Alex Olney or Kate Gray were to attend at one of these, I decline any appearances. Not fair to put a boss fight in the tutorial.)
