I kinda hope we don't get it in a direct. No use wasting time in an event that should be about games with a trailer for a movie. If they want to do a trailer, just drop it randomly like so many other big movies.

You know what? This movie could be Illumination's Spider-Verse. It could be their redemption arc. The Nintendo higherups liked the movie, apparently. If it happened to Sony, it will happen to Illumination.
I really really hope the Sonic movies inspire other studios to make more video game movies...
... and I really hope that this movie is good, or even just does well, so we can have a better chance of getting a Zelda movie...
Yeah. I have more faith in the Sonic movie.

Meh, Sonic being the best video game movie is just proof that video game movies suck.
@HankScorpio I don't see the similarities myself. Sony trusted talented film makers with a strong vision/take to make a Spider Man they wanted to make and left them to it. Whilst Nintendo seem to be very controlling on this film (which is understandable given the history) but how many times has it been said that the producers meddling ruined the movie?
@Anti-Matter Yes I will see it my local cinema @jump Personally, I don't think Nintendo having control of the movie is that bad. If anything, it will prevent something like the 1993 Mario movie happening again.
@HankScorpio I never said it was bad, just that's it's a common problem with bad movies and the opposite of what happened with Spider Verse.
Thing is people on here particularly like to complain how Miyamoto (who is also hands on with the movie) has ruined the Mario RPG series by not allowing/taking away it's story and characterization which is one thing for a game but even worse for a movie if that mentality is carried on.
Then again this is a kids movie, some bright colours and shouting out banana has made the studio successful in the past. The biggest thing which will stop it being successful is the new Avatar movie, every time someone writes off a new James Cameron film it ends up being a juggernaut which destroys every other film that opens against it.
@HankScorpio Probably not gonna happen, but I’m hoping for Koji Kondo, the guy who composed the music for the original Super Mario Bros. I mean, they brought home back for Mario Maker 2, why not Mario Movie 1?
